For 2004, the E-Class wagon benefits from the same full redesign the sedan received last year. A V8-powered version of the wagon is available this year and the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system is optional on both sedans and wagons. Finally, the DVD-based navigation system, which was delayed for 2003, is on the options list this year.

Great Drive - Poor Electronics - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By ButtonTex - March 19 - 2:00 amThe E500 is a fun car to drive and it lives up to all the superlatives. However, the audio, phone, and electronic systems are extremely poor and unreliable. The audio system has a mind of its own, the integrated phone system spent more time in the shop than in use, and false warning indications have been common. As a result, I will never buy another MB.

By WilliamMann - March 9 - 10:00 amI cannot believe the IDIOTS at the top of Mercedes, they made a decision that someone should be fired for! The comfort steering wheel is ANYTHING but that. The Sterio arrows in steering wheel just Scan the stations and do NOT skip to your presets as THEY SHOULD! The dealer said they changed this for this years model - ARE THEY NUTS!!! Im So upset that I spent 70K & I also have to hold the preset for Memorie seating too instead of a One touch like the Caddys. Really silly stuff that could have been great! SHAME to the executives making BONE HEAD decisions.

Beware of Mercedes Warranty - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Brit in Dallas - February 20 - 11:06 amI bought a new (2004) E320 Sedan with Appearance and Luxury packages. Its very stylish but has been in the shop way too often. The air conditioning (horrible smell) which Mercedes was reluctant to correct first time stunk. Mercedes - simply flushing the system does not work - it needs to be replaced. Worse was to follow - the Mercedes Dealership damaged my computer during yet another visit to the shop (brakes recall) and it was replaced with a used part. Yes, a USED PART on a new car. I called Mercedes USA and was referred me to my new car warranty which gives them the option to do just that - replace parts with used or reconditioned ones. How cheap can you get Mercedes?

By piojo - September 19 - 10:00 ami know this particular model is not in your records yet, but just let everybody know that this is an umbilivable expirience, i purchase a new car every year for the last 15 years, i dont remenber ever been so taken by every aspect of a car , preformance 6.7 zero to 60, handling all you can dish for a 2 ton sedan short of an m5, looks (very personal i know )but i love them, an to crown it i just went round trip from miami to key west on half a tank of diesel ( $ 1.72 a gallon) and 33.2 mpg not on a freeway all for $50,000

Mind of its own? - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Mark4091 - March 21 - 10:00 amWeve only had our 320E for 5 months, (2400mi) and do not like the way the transmission downshifts at low speeds. Its as though someones putting on the breaks. Its a really odd feeling. Also, there is a hesitation starting off in forward or reverse. You have to make sure the "coast is clear" before entering traffic. The engine is louder than we anticipated. We really like the car, but these issues take the joy out of owning a Mercedes. Whats with all the break dust on the wheels? Seems like Im washing them every other day.

By NomoreBenz - February 11 - 10:00 amAfter saving $63,000 and waiting 3 months for delivery, Im not happy at all. At delivery, both seat backs was loose, AC auto makes loud noise in operation, engine noise is excessive, at low cruising car bucks and launches when accelerating, sun roof electronics are not functioning as designed, there is a shuttering sound coming from the out side of car at speeds over 60. All this and I only had the car 6 weeks! What happened to Quality insurance and delivery inspections. Im taking this car back to dealer calming I got a LEMON!!!!!

2004 E320 SPORT - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Mercedes-Benz, like all cars, must be properly maintained inside and out for it to perform and be relied upon during its long life. These are highly advanced vehicles which deserve much respect, and that means no cutting corners when it comes to maintenance and repairs. Most people complaining about their Benz either obtained it from poor care or have not been providing the proper care . I will admit, it does take a financial commitment to make this happen, but so does the proper care for a Honda Civic if you wish to have it running like new at 120K miles. I am blessed to have my 04 E320 Sport and its simply a great car.

The "Water Buffalo" Just Keeps Going Effortlessly - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By realrideracing - November 30 - 6:23 pmWeve nicknamed our E320 the "Water Buffalo" simply because its the work horse. She is as reliable as any car Ive owned (and Ive owned a lot!), just gets you to your destination effortlessly and smoothly, pretty comfy ride, handles well, and is all round a good solid car. Even in Los Angeles where everybody drives fancy cars, the valet still parks our E320 in the front. It just looks like an elegant and classy car.

You Wont Believe This - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By ex-E500 Owner - January 22 - 2:00 amI got my E500 in October 2003. It was a beautiful and incredibly fast sedan. By February 2004 it would spend a month at the dealer with a bum transmission and audio system. My dealer was terrific and allowed me to trade the car for another E500. The first one I ordered came in with a bad ignition system. Then, finally, Mercedes swapped cars and another car was ordered. This one came in with a bad brake system. By now I had it with no confidence in the E class. Any chance of a refund was between me and M-B. So, with no desire to be David vs. Goliath, I accepted the car after it was repaired and then the next day drove it to my Jaguar dealer for an S- Type.
