Overview & Reviews
For 2004, the E-Class wagon benefits from the same full redesign the sedan received last year. A V8-powered version of the wagon is available this year and the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system is optional on both sedans and wagons. Finally, the DVD-based navigation system, which was delayed for 2003, is on the options list this year.
- Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedans and wagons.
- More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, brakes lack progressive feel.

E500 Sport " tErrific" - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Philip Biderman - September 30 - 2:00 amTurned in my 2001 E320 at lease end and got a new E500 Sport. I am surprised at how improved the new model E is. Of course the car is more powerful with the bigger engine, but it is also more comfortable, handles better, is quieter and looks great. The sound system makes you feel like your at a concert. So far no service required. If I didnt have to deal with Mercedes leasing it would have been a near perfect deal.

Expected More - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Johnny Ca$h - August 18 - 2:00 amThe ride is much harsher than you would expect from a car with adjustable air suspension. The engine makes a lot of noise somewhat like a diesel. The engine should run smoother considering it has two spark plugs per cylinder.

E55-Ultimate Car! - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By mb4ever - June 30 - 2:00 amThis is an amazing car. It can beat Vipers and Ferraris at stoplights but still has the panache to check in at the Four Seasons. A great vehicle!

2004 E500 - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By huynhm - June 30 - 2:00 amIt is a great car. Design and execution is great. My only complain is the one feature which I purchase and did not get is the active lights option. MB should have informed their customer when they delayed a feature as I custom order this car.

Looks good but stays in the shop - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By bbh - June 14 - 10:00 amAfter 3 years of owning a C320 I decided to upgrade to a E500. My C320 visited the workshop more than any of my cars but I thought the new models might be better. Well within 24-hours of delivery the car was on a tow truck. The alternater had died within the 1st 100 miles of the cars life. The fact that the factory and dealer tests did not find the bad alternater scared the hell out of me. What can I expect from this car?

Still the only 7-seater wagon out there - 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By A.Thomas - May 18 - 2:00 amI had a 98 E320 4 matic wagon and loved it. The 2004 model sacrifices some interior room but is more elegant looking and more fun to drive than the older model, and after initial skepticism I really like the voice- activated controls and navigation system.
