This Year's Model Updates:

This year the CLK's standard eight-speaker Bose audio system is scrapped in favor of a 10-speaker Harman Kardon unit, while the navigation system is now DVD-based. The 320 model gets upgraded standard wheels, and offers a lighting package with foglights that illuminate with the turn signals, or when the steering wheel is turned. The 500's five-speed automatic is replaced with a new seven-speed unit with steering wheel shift controls. Also, ventilated front seats are now optional. The complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.

Pros:
  • Solid chassis, composed ride, comfortable front seats, fast power top operation in Cabriolet.
Cons:
  • High price, some subpar plastic trim, a few hard-to-use controls.

  • Great car - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

the CLK 320 coupe is great. I love the car and have enjoyed it from the moment I bought it. I took it up to Mendocino and it took the ride like a pro. The twists and turns on the ride were a breeze.

A great performer without going to the extreme of excessive horsepower. The car is also beautiful.

I enjoy driving my Mercedes CLK. It has a lot of pickup and often I dont realize how fast I am going until I check my speed. Obviously it was made to drive on the Autobahn in Germany. My only problem is that there are so many controls and I drive so infrequently based on the weather that I am often stumped as how to operate.

Paid top dollar for what turned out to be a real dissapointment> Poor quality, and terrible dealer support (Claridges in Fremont, CA). Well never buy another car from them again.

  • BMW Defector - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

I am used to the subperb handling of the BMW 3 series but always wanted to try the Benz. I am pleasantly surprised that the handling of this vehicle feels equal to, if not better than the BMW. The style and feeling of prestige far outweighs what I felt when driving the BMW. Wow! I thought I was Mr. It for years when I turned heads with my Beamer. But with this Benz, I actually have people stopping me and complimenting the vehicle with enthusiasim. That just makes me feel that every penny spent was worth it. I like the sense of vehicle control when I take exits off of highways the vehicle hugs the highway. The anti lock breaks are great.

  • Love, Love, Love!! - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

The car is smooth, elegant, and sexy. Absolutely love driving it - the 6 cylinder is definitely powerful enough. Get great looks on the highway and feel special driving it. Great options that make it truly special: navigation system and voice-controlled phone. Not great in the snow, but has a "winter- mode" button that helps you get through better. Mercedes service is impeccable - courteous and complete.

  • Sweet Ride - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

My CLK 320 is a sweet ride. The convertible is a must and makes me cheer out loud while driving. It handles beautifully and is tops in luxury. The only problem Ive had is a fuse to my speakers that keeps popping. I take it out and it resets, but Ill be worried if it keeps happening. The car looks great, is big enough for four (if the back two are short) and so far, the mileage is OK. About 20 mpg. Everything is automated, the sound system sounds superb, it handles well and it just makes you feel like a million. Since Im a new owner, I cant say how the service is but it had better be great or Ill change this review. Overall, I love this car.

  • I love my new CLK - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

I acquired my new CLK cabriolet about 2 weeks ago and I really love it. I traded my 2003 Infiniti G35 coupe with all the options. But I just wanted a convertible. True, the CLK has no where the tech gadgets or power the G35 had. But the CLK rides so smooth and has wonderful road manners. The car is effortless and taking the top down from outside the car is so convenient. They could have done a better job with the radio. The car is really so much fun and I get plenty of looks. The trunk is a pain to close because of the stiff hydraulics. With the top down and the wind screen up, there is virtually no wind or noise at highway speeds. Thats amazing.

  • Topless beauty - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

This Benz is beautiful with the practicality of four seats. Sensual with or without the top. Smooth delivery of power thru 7 sp tranny. Had problems with the keyless go which required a few trips to the dealership. Finally, they replaced a key component. The stereo started to blast (mostly static) by itself, as if it was possessed. It would only happen sporadically. This problem was linked to the keyless go and was repaired. That was about a year ago. Since then, so far so good. It sure does get alot of looks.
