Overview & Reviews
Last year's Mercedes CLK320 gets a new 3.5-liter V6 for 2006 and is subsequently renamed the CLK350. New 17-inch alloy wheels and a seven-speed automatic transmission are also part of the upgrade. The more powerful CLK500 has a sportier interior this year, as well as an AMG-sourced exhaust. Finally, all 2006 CLKs have new active head restraints and a new grille and taillights.
- Powerful engines, solid chassis, composed ride, comfortable front seats, fast power top operation in Cabriolet.
- High price, some subpar plastic trim, a few hard-to-use controls.

Diamond metallic CLK cabrio - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By jim - December 6 - 8:40 amI took delivery in July 2005 and the car has been perfect in every way. I owned a 1999 CLK cabrio and never had a problem with it in over six years of ownership. The new engine and transmission are a vast improvement over the 320 CLK.

Best Car ever - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By Glenn - January 20 - 7:36 amThis is the best car I have owned, and I have gone thru 14 cars and vans over the last 30 years and by far this car is the most fun to drive . Many people stop and comment on how cool the car looks due to no B pillar. Mileage on the highway is 31 mpg

CLK320 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By jim l - December 19 - 7:46 amThis CLK 320 convertible was a definite surprise. The power and ride are much above expectations. No longer feel I made a mistake in selling my 911 to make room for this excellent Mercedes product.

Transmission problem - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By Pamela - July 12 - 5:00 amI love the car but have had a horrible experience from service at the dealership. Sometimes the car jerks, downshifts and drives very rough when you are slowing down. I had it checked at 1000 miles and again at 11,000 miles. Gas mileage is pretty good but runs on premium. Design is great but does not make up for horrible service.

One beautiful car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By luvmybenz - February 12 - 8:53 pmI purchased by CLK 500 in August after two years of research and test driving other cars and I must say I have never experienced anything like driving my CLK 500. The stares I get from other drivers (especially from BMW owners). Every time I drive the car I get challeged to race and it is usually from the BMW owners. That is a sign that this is an exceptional car. As for the driving experience it is truly orgasmic. The seats hugs you and the ride is so smooth. I love the accelaration when entering the freeway. I get nothing but compliments on this car and am truly happy I decided to purchase it.

Marks - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By mambrose - September 28 - 8:46 pmI think the car is satisfying overall. It is a well rounded machine, although those expecting a sports car may be a bit dissapointed. I had a 911 cab prior so that may not be a fair statement. It is smooth, quiet and powerful, although I understand they are putting the new v8 found in the 2007 S class thoughout the line to replace the current 5.0 ltr motor. That will be a real lift in power. (some 80 or so horses.) Kind of wish I would have waited for the 2007. I put 18 inch BBS wheels on mine and it handles better w/o much loss in ride. They look better too. I may put on cross drilled rotors(for looks and performance)w/perf. pads(to lessen dust), and maybe sway bars to help prevent leaning.

Worth the money - 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By brian decook - September 9 - 7:56 pmI was involved in a Tbone colission with a hit and run by a Ford Explorer. The policeman said I should be dead. Thank God for Mercedes Benz and the saftey systems they have invented.
