This Year's Model Updates:

This year the CLK's standard eight-speaker Bose audio system is scrapped in favor of a 10-speaker Harman Kardon unit, while the navigation system is now DVD-based. The 320 model gets upgraded standard wheels, and offers a lighting package with foglights that illuminate with the turn signals, or when the steering wheel is turned. The 500's five-speed automatic is replaced with a new seven-speed unit with steering wheel shift controls. Also, ventilated front seats are now optional. The complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.

Pros:
  • Solid chassis, composed ride, comfortable front seats, fast power top operation in Cabriolet.
Cons:
  • High price, some subpar plastic trim, a few hard-to-use controls.

I just got my 500 and I am in absolute love with it. I had the m3 but this is all around better!

  • Awesome Soft Top - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
    By -

This is THE soft top to own. Sharp styling, incredible performance, 7 speed shifters on the steering wheel (F1 Type) and excellent handling. For its class, this is the #1 model.

  • Love It - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

Got it in NJ and drove it down to Fl and back again. Loved its nice smooth ride and its push button ease in switching it back and forth to a convertible. Its nice and roomy when the top is up no feeling of being cramped and when the top is down -easy greasy. The front passengers are very comfortable though in the rear its a tad windy.

  • 05 CLK Cabriolet compared to 03 - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
    By -

I owned an 03 and it was a disaster - poor trim and finish, leaks, silly interior flubs in design ... altogether an awful car. It was shocking. But, having been a Benz driver since 89, I felt the urge to give it one more try before moving (like everyone else) to Lexus. I have been pleasantly surprised by the major improvement in quality in this new model. The top is infinitely better in all respects, the interior trim is higher quality all around, the noise level is lower, the finish is far superior. Its as if a different car company made it. Anyway, they "saved" this one customer by putting some quality back in. I hope MBZ learned a lesson.

Fun to drive. Very nice lines. Did have the transmission fail after a few months of driving. A control module was replaced to correct the defect. Good gas mileage and great sound system

  • 2005 CLK Cabriolet - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

Great driving car. Need a 2005 manual instead of the 2004....Comfort not a main feature, but beautiful handling.

  • Slow Car - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

Not a sports car at all. Dont be fooled by Mercedes in order for them to sell the car. Automatic trans and low horsepower add up to a boring car. BMW 3 series would have been a smarter purchase! This is definitely an old lady car.

  • 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK Conv. - A Great Car Thus Far!! - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

I just got my 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK320 Convertible and so far I love it! It is very solid and stable. I am pleased with how much power it has. The interior is amazing and the top works great. I like the stereo, the controls, and all of the amenities. It feels great on the road and seems to handle well.

  • Beautiful Car: Horrid Reliablitiy - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
    By -

Reliability issues. Climate control: 5 times in the shop for now, and going in now for the 6th. Rough Idle: 4 times. Seat belt motor: 3 times. Drivers seat motor. Rain sensor activating on a dry windshield. Reverse Ttilt for rear view mirror: repaired 4 times. Radio: 2 times. Steer clear. Overall reliability of electrical items is horrid.

  • "Transformer!" - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
    By -

As my son(6) says..."ahh sweeet, you got a transformer car!" Love the push button top up/down. And its hidden in the trunk. Stuck in traffic? No problem. Put the top up at the light! I love it all, but the cupholder is too far away, and radio station settings are too complicated. Plenty of room in the back seat. Trunk has enough room for shopping at Costco. Another drawback... too much attention.
