This year the CLK's standard eight-speaker Bose audio system is scrapped in favor of a 10-speaker Harman Kardon unit, while the navigation system is now DVD-based. The 320 model gets upgraded standard wheels, and offers a lighting package with foglights that illuminate with the turn signals, or when the steering wheel is turned. The 500's five-speed automatic is replaced with a new seven-speed unit with steering wheel shift controls. Also, ventilated front seats are now optional. The complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.

By Mike Evans - June 29 - 9:00 pmI purchased my CLK 55 AMG convertible is Southampton NY. The car is fast, handles very well and is terrible on gas. (but I knew that from the start) The interior could use some work, especially the rear seats (just make it a 2 seater) Navigation system is onpoint, sound system is clean but confusing. (still havent figured out how to change the clock time) I do get compliments on the car evertime I leave the driveway.

Unhappy & frustrated to date - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By Can YOU explain? - March 16 - 10:00 am3 days after purchase, my power steering pump failed nearly causing a fatal crash. The teleaid system and rear assit mirror adjustment were also found defective from day one. While a new power steering pump and teleaid system installation seems to have corrected the problem, the mirror still does not work and will go a 3rd time for repair. Its not fun to drive because Im constantly driving it to the repair shop. BTW... this is not a cabriolet (only choice given).

Dont be fooled - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By lglegl - January 1 - 3:33 amDont be fooled by the fact that the emblem says Mercedes Benz. The car is poorly designed and poorly built. Interior is cramped; upgraded sound system is tinny; radio reception is awful; climate control is poor, navigation system is impossible to use. At least 5 service visits in less than a year due to defects. This is more like a Reliant K than a Mercedes Benz!

Tires leaking air - AMG wheels - 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class
By MaryF - November 22 - 3:16 pmFirst I would like to say that I love this vehicle. However, I am having one tremendous problem. My tires are leaking air randomly, about every 2 to 3 weeks, to the point of being flat. I replaced the tires 18 months ago but I am still having this problem even more often. Ive taken the car to the tire dealer at least half a dozen times and he has sealed the rims but told me the chrome on the AMG rims is bubbling inside the bead rim and is causing the leaks. I dont know if he is just trying to sell me new rims or what the deal is. Anyone else having this problem?

By nwmind - November 3 - 10:00 amThis Black On Black CLK500 Cabriolet is a pleasant surprise. The new engine and transmission with the paddle shifter is very slick and gives the driver great control when performance is needed. The leather is superb and the top is of the finest quality available. Top is very fast up and down 17 seconds and looks great both ways. The car is very quiet with the top up, quieter than my accura 3.2TLS sedan. I got this car because it has two personalities. One that it looks like a black coupe with a sporty business appearance with the top up and a fun sporty runabout with the top down. Rear seat is very comfortable and has more headroom than the coupe. I can say this after having owned several BMW E39 5 Series, along with a variety of other top car makes. If you are looking for a car that is sporty, and classy this is the pick. If you are looking for a car with refinement, this is the pick. Smooth and powerful the CLK500 is a pleasure to drive. It just feels special. The quality, fit and finish is of the highest standard, exceeding BMW or Audi. Im getting 6 cylinder gas mileage from the V8 and I believe this is due to the 7 speed automatic now standard on the CLK500. Great car!

By MGZ - September 20 - 10:00 amI just bought a brand new 05 CLK320 in Opal Black Metallic with xenons, 6CD,sunroof, and heated seats. The car is superior to my 2002 Acura TL, the car it replaces, in almost every way. The cars V6 is strong and smooth, the interior is flawless in terms of space, design, and functionality. The Benz makes my 02 TL look like a 10 year old Civic, and the rims are beautiful. Overall, this changes my opinion that mercedes builds slow, big, and unreliable boxes, and its the first car Ive had that makes me smile EVERY time behind the wheel.
