Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

the "Jeugo" - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By iceman36 - February 15 - 12:33 pmThe moulded interior of the 2002 JGC Laredo reminds me of a childs cheap plastic toy. The drivers side is so cramped that I can barely keep from stepping on my own feet. The glove compartment is so small that the only thing that will fit in it is a pair of gloves. And finally, the car vibrates in idle.

This is one phenominal vehicle!!! - 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By hendy - February 13 - 5:06 pmI have owned many vehicles in my lifetime (too many according to my wife!) but this is by far my favorite. After 16,000 miles I have not had a single problem. My high on the highway is over 25 mpg and I get around 20 in the city. Often I run ethanol in it to be a little green but MPG drops quite a bit. The car is unbelievably comfortable and rides like a dream. This summer we took it on a 16 hour trip and felt great when we arrived (as good as we could have been). It is very quiet, has a great entertainment system and looks fabulous inside and out. I am amazed at the comments I receive from people about how nice it is. There is not much to not like about it.

Satisfied - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By The Kid - February 11 - 10:20 amWell, Im shocked at the other reviews but not surprised. The things that happened to the others are just starting to happen to mine at 184,000 miles. Except for a serpentine belt, tires, oil, etc. this machine has been a real champ. Ive totally enjoyed driving it. I love the sound system, interior comfort, handling, and am ok with the mileage. I tow my boat, no problem. The differentials never posed a problem until Jiffy Lube put the incorrect fluid in. Then they started chattering when I steered.....that was fixed at their expense. I just replaced the tranny and transfer case so I am pleased that I can keep it for another 8-10 years. Never had a tune up or spark plug changed and still runs

SHAME ON YOU JEEP - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By doug - February 9 - 8:23 pmI still have nightmares about this vehicle. I lost all trust in American cars over this one. I cant believe Jeep would release such a poor vehicle in 2000. Dealer bought mine back. Spent more time in repairs instead of my driveway. Mainly had transmission issues and axle issues. Luckily didnt own it long enough to experience the whole range of issues. Shame on you Jeep for releasing such a poor vehicle and ruining your reputation

Unfortunate Unreliability - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By envoy2002 - January 31 - 7:26 pmHad JGCL V8 for 1 and half years. 36000 miles. Repeated mechanical problems, some which were replaced identically 3 or 4 times. Chrysler is taking back the vehicle. For $38K vehicle, it should not fall apart so quickly. Pitty since it is a beautifull looking vehicle and has nice interior amenities (granted, not as many as others, but quite ergonomic and functional).
