Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • mpg going down - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is my first Jeep and I think it is a great vehicle. When I first got it the computer said I was getting 19.2 mpg. around town. Now my tail pipe is black with soot and the best I can get is 17 on the highway. Took it to the dealer; they told me it was the way I drive and I put cheap gas in it. There was nothing wrong. If the problem does not hit them in the head they will not look for it. Service department stinks just like most dealerships. I only have 2500 miles on it. The mpg should have gotten better. Outside of that I highly recommend the grand Cherokee. It is night and day over the 2004.

  • Love my Jeep, but it is having problems with transmission already - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Love my Jeep, but it is having problems with transmission already. Last night it would not go into park. I had to leave it in neutral in my garage over night with the e-brake on and Jeep powered off. When i woke up this morning the battery had died. AAA is here to bring it back to the dealership for the 2nd time, since i purchased it Dec. 19th. I get the message on the screen to "service trans" & literally it will not shift into park. It only has 500 miles on it. I am disappointed & frustrated. When i brought it in the 1st time they said it just needed a software update. Looks like they were wrong. It wont even take a jump so theyre towing it in right now. Other than this i LOVED my Jeep.

  • Can you say "Hemi" - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

The truck is redesigned to look more square and boxier with a tougher profile and even tougher engine...the Hemi. Ive driven all the suvs in the $35-50K range and you definately get the most bang for your buck in the 05 Grand Cherokee Limited. So much power to spare you feel like your driving a BMW off the line, a lexus on the highway and a rover off- road. Overall, very sweet ride.

  • My $33,000 piece of junk! - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I currently have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 and it was the biggest mistake and waste of money! I have had nothing but problems with this Jeep. It has stalled numerous times, I have smelled a burning smell coming from my dash, my touch screen radio goes blank, my turn signals get stuck on while I am driving, my dash flashes and I have no idea how fast I am going, my shifter gets stuck in neutral, my transmission jerks, my back tires kick, sometimes my keyless entry works and sometimes it doesnt. I have never written a review about anything before but I also have not been this disappointed about anything in my life! My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Do not waste your time or money. They are not safe. If you are like me and unfortunate enough to have one of these do not bother calling FCA with any complaints! They will ignore you, make you think you are crazy and then ask you to stop calling them about your problems! Do yourself a favor if you are looking at a Jeep Grand Cherokee and stay far far away from them, trust me if you dont you will regret it just like I do.

  • Dream car really is a dream! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ive always wanted a jeep ever since i started driving. It was always my dream car and i wouldnt be happier driving anything but this vehicle! The comfort is incredible, the ride is awesome, and the car is well worth the money you spend on it even though i got a killer deal on a used one! Thanks for making the ultimate vehicle for all my driving needs!!

  • Jeep-Head Jack - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my fourth Jeep. I bought after my 1992 Cherokee Laredo finally gave up the ghost after 396,724 miles. Yes, Virginia, Jeeps DO last more than 30,000 miles. My wife has a 2001 60th Anniversary Edition Cherokee and loves it. Solid, rugged, fun to drive, reliable and popular - thats what has turned me and many of my friends into "Jeep-Heads". My next Jeep will be a Wrangler of some sort.

  • Own one and youll understand... - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I bought this vehicle from a Jeep dealer at 90K miles in 2001,It now has 100K and Ive mostly LOVED it.I have the Q-Trac/V8 Setup and my trans vibes a bit when shifting to 3rd,the rear end is also very NOISY(growls).80% of Grands experience the rear diff bearing problem.Mine was even replaced in 98.That aside,I fixed a $90 IAC and now my Catalyst and Steering Dampener need replaced. Not bad for 100,250 miles. Biggest complaint? Interior Quality. These vehicles arent cheap and dealing with such a spotty interior is rediculous. Was going for a 99 or 00 but they have SEVERE problems, perhaps a 98 5.9 Limited will fit the bill,or ill wait for the 02s to come down.

  • Tough and Luxurious - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is the fifth Jeep I have owned and my most favorite. This is the perfect sized SUV. I like this Jeep much better than the 2005 and newer models. The new models have horrible interior materials unlike the 99-04 and the biggest faux pas is that they no longer have that indescribable "Jeep" ride and feel. The 99-04 models have ergonomics that are perfect. Every related function grouped together. All light functions are on the stalk, unlike Toyota for example. Same goes for both front and rear wiper controls; 1 stalk. The heat and air controls are a model of simplicity. 3 round knobs that operate with precision. The best feature is the design and comfort of the leather heated seats

  • Three Jeep Family - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited in August 2008 and love it. Ive only had a few minor repairs done to it. My Jeep is properly maintained with all fluids being checked every time I take it in for an oil change at 3,000 miles. Of course having a son who is a service advisor at a Jeep Dealership helps. LOL We also own a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo which is still going strong at 198,000 miles, and a 2010 Jeep Liberty Limited. We are and will remain a Jeep family. Before our current Jeeps we owned 94, 98, and 2000 Jeep Cherokees.
