Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Great buy! - 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is the second JEEP Laredo I have owned, however, the first Grand Cherokee. The ride is great and I am really enjoying the SUV as a car and an SUV. The interior and exterior are well designed, and I am pleased with the overall package. I am still learning how to use all of the features. I have the tow, safety, and off-road packages, as well as a sunroof. It is a great buy!

  • Luxury SUV - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Overall one of the best SUVs you can get. Many options and styles to fit any need. Gripes -- plastic interior looks good but very hard and cheap to the touch. Leather seats have more vinyl than than leather. MPG should be better. Drivers power seat is too high.

I love this jeep. The Navigation, Sound System, Hemi V8 power. I can connect my iphone wirelessly to the system and listen to all my songs. Seats are comfortable, Vehicle looks amazing. Got the 20 inch wheels. I drive almost all locally and short distances so my first mileage check im getting 14.7 mpg. Only thing I might have done differently is go with another color. I chose the green which usually looks black its so dark.

  • No problem in blizzard/mud/rain/dessert - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Traded in older Jeep, overheated near Vegas en route to Zion during July 4th weekend. Performed flawlessly in the dessert, and A/C kept cool in over 100F temp. Moved to mountains, and helped towed moving truck up the hill when it overheated. Commuted 3 years 90 mi RT, from 5500 ft to sea level, in various conditions: blizzard, ice, mud slides, scorching summer heat with no problem. Rebuilt transmission at 150K. Gas mileage no noticeable change. Hit-n-run accident on the mountain at 170K. Not sure if related to accident, but a few months later: memory loss in computer settings (seat, mirror, radio), heated seat. Now at over 240K mi still works great at -30F. Replaced water pump-no other repairs

  • 1999 jeep family vehicle - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

We, my wife and I, bought the vehicle used. Had 32000 mi. the brakes were checked and described as ok.... after 11000 mi we encountered problems, and the dealer we purchased it from stated it needed a complete brake job. we stated that when we purchased it , the check system stated they were ok? the dealership would not stand behind there own check system, and we purchased the best warrenty program to a tune of $2000 and of course the warrenty program doesnt replace brakes. So I had to pay something like $450 for a brake job... We also had the rear end differential relaced due to noise..warrenty covered this problem..

  • With TLC and will last 200Kmi - 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Ive owned this 93 ZJ Jeep as well as an 88 XJ. Both really have given me good service. ZJ handles and rides more confidently than the XJ(as well as Explorer, Blazer,..others in its class). At 150K have had some high maintenance bills but due to neglect of poor upkeep by prev. owners not the product itself. Happy w/ my 5-SPEED ZJ (1 of apprx. 1400)...just ashame there wasnt a demand for more of them!

  • Beware! Poor quality + poor customer service! - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I purchased my Grand Cherokee new in September of 2014. As of today, it has spent over 35 days at the dealer for numerous issues - transmission, radiator, gps, bluetooth, brake recall, electrical recall, rusting of tow hooks, water pump, interior door panels broken from the factory. Jeep has refused to negotiate under the New Jersey Lemon Law and has kept me waiting since August. I was also promised that customer care would call this week after my Jeep spent 10 days waiting for a radiator and water pump. Still no answer. Fiat/Chrysler/Jeep have the worst quality as per the latest Consumers Report that came out last week - and the worst customer relations in the business!

  • Love this car - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my second GC (had an early 1992) and my most recent SUV was a MB ML 430. I have had a range of cars in my life (Peugeot, Jaguar, two MBs, and a number of Big 3 vehicles). I am semi-retired and dont drive a great deal and my ML had only 90,000 miles. I liked that car but love this one. Extremely solid, very comfortable, well equipped. Love the seats (the previous rater who gave comfort a 1 must have a butt the size of Texas). MBs, Jags and particularly Peugeots all have great seats and the Jeep is every bit as good. The ride is great so something good came out of Daimlers little money dump into the US. I consider this to be a Jeep refined (not designed) in Stuttgart.

  • Best SUV ever - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have owned 8 SUVs. Including explorer, expedition 4 runner and sequoia. Best SUV ever by far. Better interior than any foreign car I have owned.

  • Trend Bucking Laredo Delivers 220K Before Giving Up the Ghost - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I bought my GC new, in Aug, 2002. Its only options were side curtain airbags. Its finally giving up the ghost, as its turning over to 220,000 miles. Its been the image of reliability. Replaced: Starter - 175K, 1 rear wheel bearing - 130K, power steering hose - 165K, 1 ignition coil - 143K. It burned a quart of oil every 4K until about 180k, when it began going through a quart every 5-600. It still starts instantly. Brakes? Of course. They went rumbly 17K, but I then had them turned on the vehicle, and they were good for another 50. I upgraded them to the later style calipers, and added ATE grooved rotors at 126K. Sadly, its leaking and smoking badly now. New ride time.
