Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Great Vehicle - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By LauraB - March 18 - 11:46 pmJust traded this Jeep in with 247,000 miles on it. It was a great vehicle to own and went it everywhere, off-road and on the interstate. Great in snow. I had the 4.0 L motor which I liked except the gas mileage wasnt anything to brag about. I liked this one so much I got a newer Grand Cherokee to replace it. I think Im hooked on Jeeps.

Amazing Vehicle - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By wade2370 - March 16 - 2:43 pmI just bought my Jeep a few days ago. The ride in the Jeep is amazing and I absolutely love it. What took me 1/2 a tank of gas in my truck now takes 1/4 of tank in my Jeep and they have the same 4.7L V8! this car is great and has a lot of features for the money.

1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jobu2010 - March 14 - 4:57 pmWhen running the Jeep is fun to drive, 1997 Cherokee gets horrible gas mileage, all fours running all-the-time stupid idea. Right now the Jeep does not run tranny sensors messed up. Look out Jeep is a money pit.

Phantom Shifts - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ednuss - March 8 - 7:44 amI have had my 3.6L Limited for about 5 weeks. I like the features, and find the cabin very comfortable. Having been a Grand Cherokee owner for 23 years, I would have preferred to get the basic one, but the navigation was only available with the upgrade. The only problem I have had is "phantom shifting". Once in a parking lot, I stopped at a crossroad and when I tried to head thru the intersection, the engine revved up, and I was in neutral. Another time, I was driving about 35 mph, when the engine suddenly revved up, an I lost forward momentum. This time it was in second gear. Big problem if the car slows at highway speed and one is being tailgated!! There will be no brake lights.

A very happy repeat Jeep buyer! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mike W. - March 7 - 8:56 pmThis is my 7th Jeep vehicle, and 5th Grand Cherokee. The common complaint of the windows not working and/or the interior lights not shutting off is a simple broken ground wire in the drivers door harness. Took me 10 minutes to fix. Overall, Im very pleased with this Jeep, although some things have not lasted as long as older models Ive owned, namely, the hood supports failed at 50k, all 4 shocks leaking at 60k, and rear axle seals at 70k. Other than that, its been rock-solid reliable. Fuel mileage is outstanding for an engine whose roots date back to the early 1960s. By the way, its an inline 6, not a V6 as some reviewers have written. I would and do recommend the Grand Cherokee!

Best Jeep! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jeep05 - March 6 - 5:30 amI bought the 4.7L V8, not the 3.7L V6. Its not an option here, but I got it. The Boston Acoustics Speakers sound as great as the Bose Speakers. Im glad I got a better value than the Limited.

Wonderful vehicle - 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By bobj99 - March 2 - 12:01 pmThis is a 318 CI (5.2 L) V8, but they dont have that selection on the drop-down menu. I bought this Jeep used in 1999, and now have more than 288,000 km on it. Im in the process of selling it after 15 years of great service. The only reason Im selling is because we no longer need two vehicles -- the Jeep is as good as ever. There has never been any work done on the vehicle except regular oil changes and maintenance, tire and brake-pad changes, etc. It can tow heavy loads in mountainous areas with no problem. It burns a bit more gas than modern vehicles with smaller engines, but its not too bad, in my opinion. A Jeep like this in decent shape will continue to provide good driving.

Very happy with my 3rd Grand Cherokee - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By nchobo - March 2 - 8:53 amExcellent vehicle! I purchased a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a Hemi in 2009 with only 38K miles on it. Got a great deal and moved up to now my 3rd JGC. Others being 1997 and 2003. I drove 20K in the first year with zero problems. Only money spent was on maintenance. I have purchased all my Jeeps a few years old to wait out the steep drop in value. I got a $42K car 4 years old in new condition for $17K. I added the best and longest extended warranty and love driving it every day. Of course the gas mileage is awful. It has a 5.7 L Hemi engine. We all know this going in.

200,000 - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By foster6245 - March 1 - 10:00 amWe havent had any problems with this jeep until now at 200,000 miles, it left me stranded by the road the other day. Completely shut off and we had to tow it to the dealership where they replaced the computer and some other things and cost around 1,000. Needless to say the jeep is at the end of its life span. The exterior paint is worn away, the head liner is completely falling down, looking for another vehicle. Found out there has been multiple issues with the catalytic converter, etc.
