Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Worst car EVERRR!!! - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By heather2007 - April 25 - 7:10 amI purchased my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee brand new right off of the lot so that I would not have to worry about having car troubles. This car has been nothing but troubles! First it started stalling right after I would begin driving. I took it in and they replaced the ESM module. Then one year later it began stalling again, once while I was going 70 mph on the highway! So, I took it in again... and they replaced the ESM module... Again! I filed a complaint with Chrystler and they said that if it happens again they will look into it. Well, 6 months later, my car randomly wont start and is stalling more frequently than ever. They say they cant find anything wrong with my car. It wont start!!

Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8 - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Steve - April 24 - 6:06 pmBought in March 2002 new. Now 70k miles. Problems only: brakes and rotors fixed 4 times, differential leak twice-still leaking, ac air blend door actuator replacement ($1300), starter, power steering line replacement-leaking again!, CD changer-just installed third one!, fuel pump, passenger side mirror memory replaced by dealer at 20k-still not working, front and rear shocks leaking at 40k!, noisy power steering, battery died at 12k, heater core replacement at 57k, lights on dashbord goes off sometimes for a few seconds! WHAT NEXT? Are this parts from 99 cents store? Manufacturer should include extra Jeep with purchase of new one for parts like buy 1 get 1 free.

More time at dealer then home - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jerry - April 23 - 8:50 amFirst time Jeep owner, mpg city 10, mpg hwy 20. Big problems with trans. When its cold trys to take off in second then shifts hard in to first. Problems going into rev at times, goes in false neutral when stopping sometimes. Trans whines after it warms up. ABS actives when stopping uphill almost every day. I live on a hill. Problem with check engine light comes on and off. Dealer has no clue. What a suprise! I like the way the ext and int looks. For the most part it runs great, never no problems with the motor. I do all my own maintence so I havent found any leaks. Two times a year I take it to the Nevada desert and bomb through the sand no problems at all. From CA to NV avg 22mpg.

Dependable & Fun - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Ray - April 22 - 2:40 amIve owned this vehicle for over 5 years and have had no major problems. This is my primary work vehicle and I spend a lot of time working on the road. I also use it to pull an oversized boat and to go into the field hunting and fishing. It goes and comes back where others cant. 4x4 is easy to operate and totally dependable. The only weak points have been the electronic accessories: heated mirrors, photochromic rearview mirror and rear windshield wiper. Fuel mileage is very good considering its an SUV. I average 22 MPG highway and 16 MPG around town (according to the DIC). 6 cylinder layout is such that regular maintenance is easily accomplished by owner.

A Real SUV - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By HeartDoc - April 21 - 10:00 amSimply put, a great SUV through and through. The Overland is not for everyone, and are best suited for those enthusiasts of true off-road vehicles. Remember, the Jeep will behave and react like an SUV should, and when properly maintenanced will provide years of inexplicable joy and recreation.

I like it! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By MP - April 16 - 10:00 amNot sure what everyone is complaining about - I really like this SUV! We used to have a Pathfinder and that was definitely more refined inside and drove more like a car, but the Jeep is great too. It is a bit more "trucky" than the Pathfinder but it is a lot of fun and looks better in my opinion (less sporty, more classy).

Known Transmission issue that Jeep denies exists - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By zootstinsky1 - April 16 - 6:23 amfirst 3 gears shift so hard that it will snap your head back. Took to dealer 3 separate times. They all say there is no fix and that it is normal. Google this issue. You will see that a lot of 2014 jeep grand cherokee owners have this problem. It feels like the transmission is slipping in the fist 3 gears. Even the service guys at 2 dealerships admit there is a problem but no fix and Jeep says its normal. Ive been driving cars for 22 years and I travel for work and rent cars every week. This problem is like no other Ive ever experienced in any other car. The GPS with voice controls is also worthless and system also does not work with messaging and iPhones. The most popular phone!

6th Time Back to Dealer for Continued Problems! - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jvesci - April 12 - 10:27 pmI left a review this summer only 30 days into the purchase of my 14 JGC Ltd. and reported that I was having multiple problems mainly with the U-Connect system. Im now reporting back 7 months later into owning this complete hunk of monkey crap which has now been in the Dealers shop 6X for U-Connect and other "electronic issues/failures". Chryser is so tired of hearing from me that they decided to rip out my Jeeps U-Connect and replace it with a brand new one. They told me "this would fix everything". Continued problems I am facing include HVAC malfunction, no heat, airbag failure, U-Connect black screen, seat belt malfunction, Phone, Radio, Navi malfunction, the list goes on and on and on
