Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By plarsen111 - August 10 - 1:53 pmIt is a love/hate experience. I love to look at and drive my JGC. I hate to fix it. It will roll over 200k miles next week, and has the same problems as everybody else. So do I recommend you buy an older JGC? If you drive few miles (me - 6000k per year), love to love a car, can pick one up cheap ($3000), and have AAA ... then go for it. Otherwise, buy a Toyota. With the exception of the new 4Runner, they dont drive as well, but knowing you can take a long trip without worrying about it breaking down is an enjoyable experience too. My wifes Subaru fits that bill. Also, I have a Toyota van with 325k miles as a back up. I trust it way more than the Jeep. But I LOVE to drive my JGC!

Less than 50 miles and I have a Problem - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By walk213 - August 10 - 2:00 amI just leased 2 GC SE yesterday (one for my wife and one for me). Last night my GC SE had an engine light go on and the right directional started flashing right even though I was not turning right? The engine light indicated that there could be a manifold problem with the car. I brought it over to the dealer (nice guys) and they said they would make immediate repairs. I have had 2 Saabs and NEVER had an issue (never mind one after 50 miles of driving). Hopefully I did not pull a lemon. The car rides and looks great--we will see about the reliabity.

This is fun to drive! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By MAW - August 9 - 6:36 amThis GC is just plain fun to drive! Its interior is comfortable, has all the toys to make the drive a real treat. I have the Sirius Satellite radio and absolutely love it! I got a great deal on a 2 year lease and jumped at it since Ive heard both good and bad about the GC reliability of previous years. Mine will remain under warranty for the duration of the lease. I expected poor gas mileage and am getting it.

Plenty of small problems... - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By dbaker - August 6 - 10:20 pmI was ready to get rid of this car after a year because I have never owned a brand new car that had so many problems. In a period of 6 months, I had to take the car back to the dealer 4 times to fix a water leak in the moonroof. The drivers door seal had a tear in it that was there since the day I had the car, and after the seal was replaced, I had to put up with the worse wind-noise. When I took the car back to the dealership to ask them to look into this problem, they informed me that they were unable to reproduce the problem, so they could not fix it. I do like driving my car, but I would not buy another Chrysler/Jeep again.

Best Vehicle Ive Owned - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Carlos M. - July 30 - 1:33 pmIve owned 2 Mercedes, a BMW, 2 Hondas, GMs, Fords, and a partridge in a pear tree ... I test drove the Avalon, Chrysler 300 Touring, Acura TL, and Infinity G35. This Laredo RWD 3.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the best vehicle Ive owned or could even buy for $10,000 more. We bought a *2nd one* for me after just 2 months after getting the wifes 05 Laredo! Power is great, handling as good as my E300, library quiet, turns on a dime, comfortable and supportive front seats, gray plastic dash reminds me of "das hinterland" but is durable, incredible standard stereo, ultra solid and safe feel, total driver control, MUCH more value than the dollars I paid. I cannot see forking over $35k when I got these for $25k each.

A Fine Automobile - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By spencesdad - July 27 - 2:00 amWe have loved our Jeep for 4 1/2 years. Our previous Jeeps had been virtually depreciation-proof, so we were shocked at this models depreciation. At 104k, we are apparently lucky to have had no tranny problems. Ate up several sets of Goodyears before we found Bridgestones which have been awesome. Been hard on front brake pads, but not excessively. Still runs and drives flawlessly, has the most comfortable and durable interior ever. Looks showroom new after six kids! Would love to keep the seats when we finally sell it! We love the way it handles, and handles anything.

A nice Jeep:) - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By JEEPLOVAH99 - July 27 - 2:00 amI bought a Jeep Grand Cheerokee for our family just last summer. I had bought it used from the dealership. The person who had owned it before I had it out on a 3 year lease. I have been very pleased with its performance from bringing my family for Prince Edward Island and Back to Maine. It also has bought us down to Massachusettes many times to visit with relatives.
