Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

2001 Jeep grand cherokee 4.7 - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By djhjeep - August 16 - 11:09 amIve had my jeep from 2005 and got it with 150k on it I now have 256k jeep is still running great but did not get there easily. I had the computer go a couple of years ago and did nt know what was wrong until I brought to the dealer and the dealer told me it would be a couple of grand to fix for a new computer eventually I found a shop to put a used one in and the vehicle was fixed. Other than that the engine and tranny is still running strong but I have a small knock and I had another mechanic tell that the head need to be replaced. Simple fix at advance auto $30 bottle to seal that actually worked great. The Jeep is like a tank through bad weather of the NE no stopping it

Never Again - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By CherokeeNoMore - August 15 - 1:53 pmI was so happy when I first purchased my Cherokee. Brand new off the lot, it was shortly after I started having problems. Tranny, rack & pinion, etc... The dealer, no matter which one I took it to was so bad I had to start taking it to a paid mechanic who himself states he sees too many of these in the shop. After I had my baby I had a terrible time with his car seat and the back. I was so disappointed as this is supposed to be a family car. NO! I dont even feel safe with him in the car now... its having back electrical problems causing interior lights to flash, no starts and weird smells. I am DONE WITH THIS THING! I have lost nearly double what this originally cost and wont get it back.

Best vehicle I have ever owned - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Enegma1 - August 15 - 2:00 amI purchased this vehicle for its style and functionality. I am a Photographer and Videographer. I needed a vehicle where I can carry my equipment without tearing up the interior of my vehicle. This vehicle has never been to dealership for any major repair other factory recalls. Easy to work on myself. I do my own oil changes, change belts, hoses, brakes, shocks, and tuneups. It has been very reliable and joy to drive. I can go pretty much wherever a 4 wheel drive vehicle can go. I travel to great Northwest up to Canada and back. I would never buy anything else but another Jeep. There is no equal

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By apg - August 15 - 2:00 amWe have owned this vehicle just over 1 year. It has only had a few minor problems which were quite inexpensive to repair. Handles very well in the snow and ice. Wish fuel economy was better but still is quite good in comparison to other similar sized SUV. Would buy another one when the time comes.

Great service - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Hond122 - August 15 - 2:00 amThis is my 4th Jeep. Had oil pressure problem on the second day, returned to dealer who replaced sending unit. Two days later same problem, dealer replaced oil pump which didnt correct problem. They got me a rental and went to Chrysler for a solution. Got back to me 2 days later and said the car would be replaced. They took a lemon and made lemonade out of it. Great dealer, great response from Chrysler. With service like this in an unfortunate circumstance they proved again you cant beat a Jeep. Gegnas Chrysler-Jeep in Philadelphia is Great!

Get a clue - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By plasticpro - August 14 - 10:00 amGreat styling vehicle. Rides nice with the unibody construction. Chrysler has NO CLUE how to make brakes. After 10,000 miles all down hill. Dilligently, washed my vehicle every week, however tree sap still ate through my clearcoat. Paint is like butter.

Love this truck! - 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Duane Hartle - August 12 - 7:19 pmOriginally leased the GC but after a year went ahead and bought it because I liked it so much. Use it to camp and tow jet skis as well as drive to work. Have not had any issues other than some window rubber started to come out on the back doors which dealer replaced. Yes there have been a number of recall issues but none have actually happened to my truck. I for one am glad that they are owning up and taking care of their customers so well. Only regret is not getting the 4X4 version.

Could Not take it anymore! - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By hortmi - August 10 - 11:06 pmAfter driving my 14 Limited for a year and 20K miles and countless days in the dealer I just could not take it anymore. Ac issues,Uconnect and transmission issues finally made me trade it in. I had a early production 14 and was working a deal with the dealer to trade it in on a latter 14. I started thinking twice about going through this hell with another Jeep. I thought Id gave the dealer another chance to get the bugs worked out because I really liked the Jeep and had done several upgrades. It was in the shop this time for three days and was returned to me worse than when I took it in. Im sorry to say I traded it in on the way home for a Volvo. I sleep at night now!

6 years and still stong - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By applebyte - August 10 - 9:06 pmI purchased this vehicle new and it has been one of my favorites. The styling and ride are great and the reliability has been quite good. Like all GCs of this year, the front brakes were horrible but once the solution was found, I cant complain one bit. The answer to the brake problem is to replace the pads and calipers with a brake kit from the Jeep dealer. Basically its the same setup found on the 2003 model! Ive had this vehicle on long trips and off-road in the woods of Pennsylvania. It has performed very well. Would I purchase another one? You bet!
