Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

This is a tight and reliable vehicle with an excellent drive drain history and highly recommended by auto repair shops for the least problems. Excellent 4X4 characteristics -- I use it in the Colorado Mountains all the time as I live at 9300 feet. The bumps in the road are hardly noticeable and handling is amazing.

Florida is not where you would normally roll your windows down in July, but dont! It hurts your ears, just like a lousy airplane cabin. I took it to the dealership. They test drove (I thought one of my back tires was bad); the mechanic said it was a poor design -- wind tunnel tested with window up only, not down. With the back seat windows down there is no place for the air to go, it is absolutely horrible!

  • Never thought I would own a jeep - 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Was coming out of a 2010 Pathfinder and I liked it but the new ones? Not so much. As a an afterthought I looked at the Grand Cherokee Limited, test drove it and took a shot, the price was right. I have never been a jeep fan but, so far, after 2 months, I cannot find anything wrong with this car. Its comfortable, looks great, drives great. The technology package is awesome and the more I use the GPS the better I like it. Not sure what Jeep did to turn it around but its working. So far, it has been terrific

  • Junk - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Awful! 60,000 miles and the brake system (pads, calipers and rotors) replaced twice; rear differential & axle replaced twice (under warranty fortunately); transmission replaced once. $35,000 cars should not fall apart like this. Partially my fault- should not have trusted claims that quality of American cars had improved. I love America but will never purchase American designed/built auto again.

  • Great SUV - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

For the sheer fun of driving this is the car to have. Have yet to find the hard uncomfortable ride I was told it has.The mileage for and SUV of this size if good, not great.

  • Ouch.. the seat hurts and the door lock. - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Two big design flaws. The drivers seat is poorly designed and too narrow. Seat is too hard and rubs my right side. Im 63, 215 pounds, very uncomfortable. Also, door lock not recessed. Continually hitting my funny bone on door lock. Otherwise car is great.

Who would think of a 6 cylinder Grand Cherokee as being fun to drive? I thought that the most stripped down Grand Cherokee would never be considered a sporty vehicle, but I was wrong. My GC is the Laredo model that came with only 3 options, full time 4-wheel drive, Qradra-Track II transfer case and luggage rack. It pulls strong away from stoplights and seems very stable on switchback roads. The gas mileage is fair averaging about 16 MPG overall in mostly city driving. Although the car is only rated to pull 3500 lbs., it has no trouble pulling my tandem axle trailer with my John Deere compact tractor and attachments aboard. Overall, I have been very pleased with my vehicle.

  • more fun than my c5 corvette - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ijust puschased a 05 laredo and i cant believe how great this suv is. driving for my job ive had an envoy and a 04 jeep over the last 4 years. I loved the 04 jeep in the snow but hated the looks and the body roll in turns and the seats of the o4 would roll you around..this 05 is quiet better on gas and it has great looks, a great interior and to be honest is more gun than our c5 corvette..and believe me we love our corvette..in facy the wheels are the same as the 97 98 99 corvette style..this jeep will sell like hotcakes ..its fresh we got the kakai green pearlcoat and its beautiful..the sound system is as good as bose and the adjustable pedals are the best...buy this jeep you wont be sorry.

  • Pure Jeep. - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This vehicle has been great with regular maintenance and a fair amount of care. I love the features of the car and the engine is also just fine for me. Everyone says this vehicle has reliability issues. Although I have had the same problem as everyone with the brakes, Ive had no other unusual problem for the life of this car. To fix the brake problem I simply replaced the front rotors and calipers (&pads) with an aftermarket setup and Ive had no further problems. The Jeep isnt known for being perfect. Its known for being able to go anywhere, do anything, when you want to. This car allows me to do that, and in comfort.

This is the fourth Jeep we have owned and each time we buy a Jeep we think to ourselves that we will never have a better vehicle to drive. We have a bright red Limited with the GPS system but what really sold my husband on this Jeep was the Hemi motor. It is by far the best vehicle we have ever owned!
