Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Worst car Ive owned - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By char1980 - March 25 - 11:23 amI drove this car for 8 years. Regretted buying it after a year. I replaced or had to get the transmission torn down THREE times in less than 80k miles. Twice it was covered by warranty, but the third was all on me. Never got rid of a very loud and irritating sound, and the wiring wasnt ever correct due to manufacturers defect. I had no less than SIX recalls. Finally, the manufacturer instructed the dealer to put the wrong brakes on the vehicle - discovered when they melted into the wheels during a road trip. Mfr paid for repairs but not hotel stay - we were stranded waiting for parts. Just dont buy it.

Awesome! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By greatsuv125 - March 23 - 7:06 amThis thing is a beast, what more can I say. I actually want to take it out on the snow drift covered roads because its that good. Ive passed Hummer H2s on the expressway when they were in the clear lane and I was in the snow covered side. 4.0L is virtually unbreakable and quick around town but it really needs another gear for truly good highway passing. Steering is vague but the brakes are fantastic at stopping the car even though my rotors were warped by 15,000 miles. Stock stereo has tons of thump to it, Ive never heard a better standard stereo and its not even the infinity version!

Hands down the best Jeep ever - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Cheeks2380 - March 23 - 3:40 amJeep has long been the best when it came to SUVs, and the new 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee is no different. With a great new look and some cool interior accents, I love it. I have the base 3.7 V6 which performs just fine for my use and provides great fuel mileage (25.6 MPG highway). I would have liked the Hemi of course, but there are some things in life that we must give up. Everyone I have talked to and showed it too comments on how nice it is. I have the Light Khaki with Khaki interior and its a great color on the Jeeps.

Love this Jeep - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By GaryF - March 23 - 2:00 amIm 63 yrs. old and this was the most pleasurable buying experience I ever had. I purchased my Overland at Jim Marsh Crysler in Las vegas. I was in and out in a little over an hour with a great deal. There was no pressure and no hassle. What a great staff. Cant say enough.

Very poor quality! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Leslie - March 22 - 5:46 amWe leased a 2005 Jeep Cherokee Laredo and not only is it a lemon but the dealership will not let us out of the lease. It breaks down all the time. Dealer cannot fix any of the problems we have had with it. Not to mention, recently, while driving down the highway, a small pebble went through the grill and hit the transmission cooler (in front of the radiator - dont be fooled, they look exactly alike), and caused transmission fluid to spray all throughout our engine and vehicle and it almost caught on fire. If a small pebble can cause this it gets you wondering about the build quality of this vehicle. I dont expect too much more from the 2006 or 2006 either.

Dont bother extending the warranty.... - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By robert - March 18 - 12:30 pmAs has been the case with past reviews, this vehicle needs brakes once a year. Find a person who knows brakes or youll have ample opportunity to learn to fix them yourself. Gas mileage is average.

Jeep GC Love/Hate - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By SM - March 18 - 12:10 pmThe abilities of this car lived up to my expectations. Unfortunately, during the 50k miles I owned it I experienced pretty much all of the problems other people have reported. The transmission was repaired once (wouldnt shift from 2nd to 1st after coming to a stop), warped front brake rotors twice, the hatch lock motor replaced, a window regulator replaced and the drivers seat frame broke on the left side where it bolts to the floor. I bought an extended service policy that took care of the most expensive repairs. The steering wheel doesnt look or feel centered with the seat and you replace the entire door panel if you want a factory replacement for a worn arm rest pad ($400 part).

WOW - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By singltrk - March 18 - 7:50 amI purchased a 2005 Limited with the 5.7 Hemi. Love it! I have a 22 ft 5500 lb. boat that it pulls with ease. This is the sixth Jeep I have owned, the last being a 1999 Grand Cherokee Limited. The new design is much improved. The better handling is noticeable as is the comfort of the interior design. The Hemi is awesome! If you need the extra power for towing or whatever, it is worth paying extra for. The gas mileage I have been getting is 16 around town, 18 plus on the highway. Not bad for that big engine.

Jeep is dealing - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Cherokee lover - March 17 - 3:00 amI was angry when they stopped making the Cherokee. I loved my 98. I thought that I could not afford a JGC and at $35K, I was right. But Jeep is hurting. You can get a $35K JGC for as little as $21K. I couldnt refuse. And this is the best made Jeep yet. Go to your dealer and "steal".

a big fat brick - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By JustEmtyEverPocket - March 16 - 2:00 amdeffinatly the best 4x4 there is, have done immensly stupid stunts and have gone without a stratch or dent or any damage. But buying it, i didnt know the axels where Fd up so after the dealer wanting $2700 to fix, and not releasing the vehicle to me over a huge mess, i finaly got it down to my REAL mechanic and he fixed it for a mear $500 loosly rounded off. Also with 98,000 miles on it, it needed a new water pump. But new growing fears of the Tranny are making me nervious ill end up like the other 3 guys i know who had the problem, but the review i read on A4s arent good, nor any other AWD car, so any advice would be useful.
