Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

A dream with a hemi 5.7L - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Joretta - April 13 - 6:08 pmI still love her but the interior door handles have fallen in on the floor. I had to replace the entire driver door panel so i can get out of her. She still runs like a dream!!

I love it! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By erin - April 13 - 12:40 pmWhen I was looking for an SUV I was only looking at the Volvo XC90 or the BMW X5. My husband had me try the Jeep and I fell in love. I have every available option, bluetooth, Sirius radio, nav., auto dimming lights, rain sensor wipers and on and on. I have over 60K miles and have yet to have a single problem with this vehicle. I sell real estate so I am in my car all the time and taking clients around. They are always impressed with the interior and are suprised its a Jeep. We will be selling it soon because I need something bigger with two kids in carseats but I will buy a Dodge/Chrysler product again in a heartbeat.

3 Jeeps and still going - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By megabyte - April 9 - 10:00 amOwner of two jeeps, a sport and Laredo. I have over 30,000 miles the 2002 Laredo and 165,000 on the 1996 sport. Happy to say that I have had no major problems with either jeep. Once the engine light stayed on for two days and then went out on its own on the Laredo. Since the light generally has to do with polution control sensers I have not had it check out. Some of these problems people complain about seem to be petty. Keep on Jeeping.

168K -One owner - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jmac - April 8 - 4:03 amThis is the 4WD, 4.0L straight six. Performed well and reliably since I bought new, and I have taken it off-road a few times. I believe in preventive maintenance. It has served me well with this truck. The only premature failure was the power steering pump at 86K ($500). Other issues - rear output speed sensor @103K, harmonic balance wheel @ 116K, steering damper & cat converter @121K. Exhaust manifold leak at 140K. Transmission was rebuilt at 152K and transfer case rebuilt at 168K, but these repairs are to be expected. I may keep this to 250K miles or more.

Huge Number of Features - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Lakeway, TX - April 8 - 2:00 amThis is my first Jeep product, it was a replacement for a 2000 Toyota Landcruiser. They pack a large number of features in for a reasonable price and the dealers are happy to make deals. My dealer went to Houston to get the one I wanted. Big selling features for me were memory seats and adjustable pedals since two of us drive (LandCruiser didnt have these things for $20k more!) Acceleration and power are excellent and much better than my LandCruiser. Gas mileage is what youd expect (bad). Defects at delivery were minimal and fixed easily at the showroom. No problems of any kind since delivery. It just runs.

Great Vehicle - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By HTRon - April 7 - 4:16 pmOverall, an excellent vehicle. A couple of minor annoyances, I wish the cruise control dash indicator would come on when it is ENGAGED, not merely when its turned on. Also, the alpha display is too multifunctional; I would prefer to see the outside temperature all the time, for example. Great power, though, and I really like the sound of the exhaust. I would purchase the SRT-8 again in a second.

Thank God it was a Jeep! - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Sam - April 6 - 1:16 pmBest truck EVER! Bought as a traded in lease with 40K miles on her and very few problems. Crossed the country towing a trailer, trucked across the outback of New Mexico no problems. This Jeep did it all with ease. handed her down to my son who beat the crap out of it and still ran great with over 225K miles on her she saved my sons life when a wrong way driver hit him in a 160 mph head on collision. The Jeep stood up to the test and not even the windshield broke, my son walked away with one broken arm. Im sorry to say the other driver was not so lucky, may he rest in peace. I bet his family wished they gave their son a jeep. Im looking for my next one now.

The 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Rocks! - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By steve-o - April 5 - 1:16 amThis is my second Grand Cherokee and I think they have improved it from the earlier model (2003). The ride is very solid and very quiet considering its a SUV. The added features such as GPS navi and satellite radio is nice too. I also like the exterior styling - very modern.

Awesome ride, great interior.... - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By JohnGermani - April 4 - 9:00 pmWe were looking at getting a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the massive dealer incentives but my wife fell in love with the safety features of the 2005 version (No Daimler Chrysler product introduced since 2002 has received less than 5 star crash rating). We bought one on the last day of the month and payed 1% over invoice less the $1000 Jeep cash. The dealership gave us $600 more for our trade than any other dealership would give us so I guess they cut into their holdback a little and sold it for about 1% under invoice. As for the vehilcle, it has the best ride of any of the midsized SUVs we tested (Ford Explorer, Chevy Trailblazer, 2004 JGC).

Awesome Cherokee - 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By bbambam - April 3 - 10:00 amThis Jeep Runs and Runs. With only minor, aor things that do wear-out having to be replaced, it has performed wonderfully. Now, alas, I need a bigger SUV and Jeep wont fit the bill for me, so Im moving on. The in-line 6 is the best engine Ive ever owned, easy to work on, also.
