Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Good boy/ Bad Boy - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Think Snow - July 8 - 3:50 amStill a Jeep. This Jeep is absolutely awesome driving on mountain passes at night. At 30 below zero the heated seats are a real treat. The front seats are very very hard. They HURT after an hour drive. No arm rests - what were they thinking at Jeep. The back seats do not fit car seats for children; they are too up right and when your child falls asleep they slump forward and hang on the child seat straps.

Great vehicle - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Sean - July 7 - 2:56 amI bought this ZJ at 106,000 miles. It had a hole in the radiator, the brakes and rotors were shot, and the engine compartment was completely orange from radiator no-leak crap. It made it all the way from Detroit to Toledo strictly on US24 on an 8th of a tank. Ive even driven into a tree while doing some intense offroading and its still going strong. Just keep up on the maintanence and your GC will last forever!

My wife thought I was crazy - 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Zeen - July 5 - 11:45 am2017 Model was tweaked to make it look very up to date both inside and out. Quality of materials is excellent. I previously had a good-handling sedan so am used to a more precise handling vehicle but am getting used to the Jeep. Acceleration is adequate. Its not a racer. Handling is good. The cabin is fairly quiet. The infotainment interface and power ports are much better than what I had on my GM car. Cargo capacity is quite good. Climate controls are easy to use and the heater warms up quite quickly. My wife thinks Im nuts for buying a rugged SUV to commute to a train station but I like the rugged look and cant wait until the first snowfall here in Eastern PA.

Not as good as I hoped for - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Michaelsn - July 5 - 5:40 amSerious malfunction of brakes after 67 miles. Continuous problem of transmission short shifting in and out of 1st gear. Gas mileage lower than advertised. Styling and interior room good. Poor pickup for quick acceleration. Last Jeep we buy.

Good up to 75,000 miles only - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By MRT - July 4 - 10:16 pmMy Jeep was great until after 75,000 miles. It assumes it has no second hand value. Car hesitates at 100,000 miles, doesnt take charge on the highway any more. Improve on the electrical constructions. Airbags and check engine signs go off all the time. Please improve on those, if the airbag and engine lights come on without annoying beeps/noise it will be tolerated. Begin to use high quality materials for we Jeep lovers. The annoying thing is that anytime its serviced, cost of repair run in $700- thousands. There are too many repairs done that I cannot mention cause of time. Jeep company can do better!

Just purchased a lease - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By flixx - July 3 - 8:40 pmI purchased this vehicle after driving it as a lease the last few years (I know, not a great financial decision but I did not know that I was going to purchase at the time). Had few miles on it and I really loved the vehicle. Gets through the snow in amazing fashion. Had to get to the hospital on Christmas Day in Omaha, NE after a huge storm and had no problem at all with no streets plowed. Have driven it on road trips all around with no issues. Rides well in the city, country roads or interstate. Very comfortable. Have had no mechanical issues (knock on wood) with this vehicle unlike what I have seen with other reviews. I am extremely pleased with this Jeep and would recommend it.

Faulty Transmission - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By swags727 - July 1 - 10:58 amThis vehicle has great potential. This Jeep could be great and has many likeable and commendable attributes. This Jeep has two issues; one rather substantial. The Audio/Nav system is basically the electronic brains of the vehicle and it has bugs, lots of bugs. The bigger issue is the transmission, it is awful. Perhaps its not widespread (I hope its not) and its just my particular jeep but I have never driven a more balky transmission. It lurches, it has delays, it feels like their is a disconnect between the pedal and acceleration. In summary it is the opposite of smooth :( If it is fixable, Ill be overjoyed...If not, extremely disappointed.

By zagreb8 - June 28 - 10:00 amCar runs good and you can usually get them cheap. If its a secod vehickle, its not bad. Mine has needed a water pump, air conditioner work, but this is simply maintenace on a 9 year truck. Impressive off road capability!
