Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Great SUV! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Our new Jeep Grand Cherokee has been a wonderful car so far. The driving experience is a lot of fun. I cannot wait to drive it in the snow, because I know it will do great. This is my first Jeep so far, and I love it a lot.

This is an outstanding SUV. Very smooth ride, great handling and fun to drive.

  • ex-enterprise rental - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Just bought a 11 GC that was from enterprise with about 15K on it. I am very tall and struggle to find vehicles that fit me well. I have always drove Japanese (Subaru, Mazda, etc.). Giving Detroit a shot. So far, from an overall experience perspective, best vehicle Ive ever owned. Im a little worried about reliability though every brand has its problems. If you are really worried get an extended warranty. It is a heavy SUV so the V6 does not shoot it off the line. Once up to speed it cruises nicely.

  • Never again - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought this Jeep based on the fact that I see them everywhere and liked the looks of them (and the lease was attractive). I used to drive a 1996 Grand Marquis with 210K miles on it and this thing made me miss that car. Windows didnt work right, moon roof never operated correctly (they didnt open or close correctly). The heat was horrible - either sweltering or freezing, no control. Seats were brutal. And to top it off, I opted for the v6 for "economic" reasons and settled for 15 mpg. A joke. Go for a Chevy or Toyota.

  • Luxury Price, not so luxury quality - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This vehicle is fun to drive, it handles well, has nice part time 4x4 option -- great for the rain. However its not reliable, rotors, and pads must be changed to aftermarket asap (expensive). Sensors, relays, and windows quit working way before youd expect. And Ive had serious electrical issues which cause the vehicle to quit while Im driving (dangerous). Dealerships seems to provide little product support, and manufacturer takes little responsibility. These problems seem persistent regardless of how I take care of my vehicle, or how I drive it. Oh, the fuel gauge and rear gate lock have also quit working.

  • 1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport V6 - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought my Cherokee Sport only in 2009. It has been very reliable, and is a daily driver. I enjoy the V6, and get an est 18-21 mil pr gall. This jeep has been well maintained which is a huge plus. The stereo is upgraded to a pioneer cd player (nice), and off road tire package makes it look very sporty! Besides that everything is factory. I have driven it for a few weeks now and it has done well. Hasnt used any oil, and has 129,000 miles! I use it to deliver pizzas 4 days a week, and its great on gas for an SUV. I plan on keeping it for a long time.

  • High Performance SUV - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Mine is the 5.7L Hemi Limited model, and I love it. VERY quick! The combination of Quadra-Drive II, stability control, traction control, and 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS is great ... it always goes exactly where I point it, with no drama at all. Interior is very comfortable and looks great. Lots of useful feature that dont get in the way of driving and give you the option of using them or not (automatic headlights, rain-sense wipers, automatic climate control). Smaller cargo area than some other mid- size SUVs, but its plenty large enough for my use. Overall a great high performance SUV that has the hardware and technology to make driving on and off road a pleasure.

  • MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE 05 - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I bought the car in 06 with 23K miles on it. By 45K miles, I had to replace the transmission. At 60K I had to replace the starter, alternator, brake pads, rotors, and transmission again. 2 weeks later, the drive shaft and casings were all replaced. Now, at 75K I am looking to replace the drive shaft again and possibly a wheel baring. The service manager at a dealership told me that starting in 05 Jeep started "turning and burning them!" Doesnt exactly make you feel good about your purchase!!! Be very careful when buying a Jeep from 05 and on!
