Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Thems The Brakes.... - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Sevilleized - December 1 - 10:00 amThis is my fifth Jeep product and the only one I have been less than pleased with. Today I had my brake rotors resurfaced for the second time (22k miles) which were shaking the vehicle when I braked. Transmission whines at highway speeds and drivers window clicks going up. Air conditioning is just ok, nothing like the old Grand Wagoneers and the wheels wont stay clean more than a day. I have tried to love this vehicle but can only manage to just like it ok. Have friends with similar Grand Cherokees and similar problems. My wifes 2001 Cherokee Limited is vastly superior in quality if not ride and comfort.

My Jeep saved my life... - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By hjh - November 27 - 10:00 amI was in a potentially fatal accident 2 days ago in my 1994 Jeep. Many have told me of their rollover potential, but I found that this vehicle actually saved my life. I was driving at a speed of appoximatley 70 mph when a car to my right was clipped by a semi and spun out of control. His back end hit my front passenger wheel well which also caused my tire to blow. I initially lost control and fishtailed 3 times back and forth across 4 lanes of freeway traffic. I was very surprised at the handling of this vehicle in this situation and am grateful to have been able to walk away.

Not Bad For A Ladies Car! - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jumpjak - November 27 - 10:00 amWe live in Pennsylvania and my wife needed something besides a Monte Carlo Super Sport to drive on slippery roads. She purchased this Jeep and loves it! Im trying to talk her into a Trail Blazer, but I may see another Jeep arriving. It has 46,000 miles and hasnt been back to the garage once. Six cylinder gets over 25 mph which she loves. Its not my cup of tea, as I drive Chevy Silverados but she swears by it.

1993 Grand Cherokee Laredo 5.2L V8 Great first car, wish I could keep it - 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By carcrazy117 - November 24 - 6:00 amI absolutely love my jeep, other than the gas mileage. Unfortunately my jeep was not taken care of by its previous owners. My family has had the car for 7 years now and Ive been driving it for the past year. Ive put 6k miles on it myself. Everything has been great up until a month ago when everything froze because the coolant system has a leak. This resulted in the end of times. Unfortunately I have to call it quits and get a new car. Radiator is leaking, transmission cooler line is leaking, bad coolant return line o-ring. Essentially the coolant system is shot. If I had the money and time, I would keep it for as long as possible. Overall, if taken care of it will run forever!

MY JEEP - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By hal - November 22 - 2:26 amThe Jeep to me is a Die-Hard SUV that seems to have the power and luxury that most SUVs just seem to lack. Even though the new Trailblazer that Chevy came out with has 270 horsepower, the Jeep just felt like it would leave it in the dust. Plus, the interior of the Chevy is just too tinny to me.

Pretty Darn Good So Far... - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By faylchr2 - November 20 - 3:41 amI just bought myself a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited the 5.2L V8 about a month ago. So far it has been good to me. I got a really good deal on it and knew it needed a little work. I replaced the valve cover gaskets and the front right axle seals and now its running very well. It could have a bit nicer interior, but much like Chrysler for the ninetys the interiors are a little cheap. The performance makes up for it though!! (At the cost of fuel) I Love It So Far!!!

Nice car built badly. - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jeffjs - November 20 - 2:00 amIve never owned anything other than Jeeps. Ive owned a 98, 99 and 2001 Grand Chrokee. From day 1, I have a leaky sunroof, speakers (Gold Series) that crackle, an AC and overhead indicator light that does not work, memory seating for 2 that does not remember what the settings that are saved, balding Michelin tires after only 18000 miles, an an engine light that kept coming on (bad O2 sensor - replaced). Other than that, I love it! :)

love my Jeep - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By davidsin62 - November 17 - 10:33 pmThe Grand Cherokee had not had a very good rating the previous couple of years. I have only had one minor problem not related to wear -- electronic door lock problems in year 5. Hope every auto I buy holds up this well! Love the ride; much better than my friends Explorers. Have just really liked everything! Hindsight: Would get the 8 cylinder instead of 6 since gas mileage is almost identical and you can always use the extra power, especially in Atlanta traffic.
