Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Do not recommend - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Disappointed - January 8 - 10:00 amWe bought this Jeep Sept. 15 last year and it is now Oct. 4 of the following year. One month after we bought it the engine light came on, when we took it in they had to replace both catalytic converters. Last month the engine light came on again and they said one of the converters was bad so they replaced it, the day after we got it back the light came back on and they had to replace the other one again. The next day after we got it back the light came on again and they had to replace the oxygen sensor, then we got it back and sure enough the light came on again the next day so I took it to another shop who told me that I need either an oxygen sensor or my catalytic converters are bad again.

First time Jeep owner - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By marcoose84 - January 6 - 3:35 amI bought my JGC about a month ago and it has 115,000 miles and so far I love it. The CD player has a mind of its own sometimes, but what do you expect for a 13 year old Jeep. Ive owned several SUVs and I have to say its been my favorite. I can honestly say I maybe sold on Jeeps. This wont be my last.

Beware of Battery cost - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By J. Scott - January 6 - 12:06 amThis is my second Jeep and my last! I love driving it but I cant handle all the problems. I went through the rotor problems with the 2000 model, the transmission recall, a radiator that had to be replaced (at 6000 mi) on the current 2005 model. I purchased the 100,000 bumper to bumper warranty, but of course nothing is ever covered! The last straw is the replacement of the battery. I found out that the battery cant be purchased anywhere but a dealership and it cost 220 with install. since I cant shop around, I call that a monopoly. Customer service (which is outsourced) is patronizing and rude, if you can understand what they are saying. So much for buying American.

My Unreliable Jeep - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By C.SIMS - January 4 - 3:36 amI purchased this Jeep brand new in 2005. I have had nothing but problems. It has cut off on me about 7 times. One time on the expressway in traffic. Thank goodness it restarted. I do love this SUV. Its strong, the radio is powerful, 6 cd player is great, etc., but the reliability is horrible. The Jeep is built where there are no rattles,it goes over most things so smooth, but I am eventually going to have to trade it because of the most important thing,it cuts off on me and jerks and shakes a lot. What a shame! Never another Chrysler.

Best Overall SUV - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Silvestri - January 4 - 2:00 amI have been searching for about a month now. Ive owned the 4 Runner and Highlander. I make long trips and the 4 Runner and Highlander were not that comfortable. Checked into the new 4 Runner but it lacked design both inside and out. Also checked into the Touareg, Pilot, Durango and Pacifica, but none had the Comfort and design that made me say wow! But the Grand Cherokee Limited was the perfect match for me and the wife. It had a sporty and refined exterior that really caught my eye and the interior is above all the rest as far as appointments and comfort. Best car Ive ever owned. Dont look any further, just buy the Jeep!

2014 JGC Overland Diesel 4X4 Advance Tech PKG - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Juan Danzilo - January 2 - 7:27 pmThis is an update to the review I originally wrote on this car a while back. I have had the car for about 6000 miles and this is what my experience has been. Love the diesel. Given gas prices declining would go for a V8 today though. This is my 3rd JGC and is an amazing car - if it was reliable. Chrysler needs to realize they are not selling Jeep grand cherokees at $50K they are selling $50K cars period. With that should come better reliability, service, and build quality. My JGC has gone to the dealer twice for check engine light and will need to go in again next week. The passenger door rattles and the leather split after about 100 miles... $50K is good value but it still has to work!

Bring it on - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By JSW - January 2 - 10:00 amThis vehicle has been problem free. I always service when recommend and change the oil every 3,000 - 4,000 miles. Like any vehicle, if you are good to it, it will be good to you. I have definitely received my moneys worth and will get a good price when I go to sell.

JEEP = JUNK - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By rolltide - January 2 - 10:00 amWarning! Jeeps are junk! I purchased a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 V6 and had nothing but problems with it. First the braker rotors had to be resurfaced, then the fuel pump, then the passenger side window motor and finally the door locks. All of this within 17,450 miles! This should never happen to a new car with that few miles (Poor quality control).
