Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Its the only choice our there - 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By L. Mazza - December 16 - 9:41 pmPurchased a Trail hack 5.7 L and I am simply in love. This vehicle makes me feel I am in a much more expensive SUV. The ride, comfort and the power is second to none. It is my second Jeep and on the first one never had a single issue and it has almost 80k miles. On this one I feel I am in a complete different vehicle. The V8 power is amazing, the ride is limousine grade. It is quite, it is comfortable and it looks just incredible when compared to all those "SUVs" from the Japanese and the Germans. The design is very attractive. So far I have put close to six thousand miles and I have had zero issues. I plant on keeping my old jeep and my new one. Maintenance is not that expensive and as far as reliability it seems as good or better than the competition. What I am not in love is how easy and lazy the engine works, just a touch to the accelerator and that V8 power sends you moving with ease. I am truly I love with my jeep.

Brake issues - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By bf5013 - December 13 - 10:56 amThis is the second and last Jeep I will ever purchase. I love Jeeps, but Chrysler does not love their customers, they have brake rotor issues. First brake job at 18,000 miles (warranty). Second at 28,000 "good will" warranty; we paid the labor! Third is now at 38,000 miles, they claim they dont have any brake problems. Im here to warn you, they do have brake problems and it is expensive! Nissan Pathfinder here I come.

Its not hard to say goodbye - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jlanding - December 13 - 10:00 amHad this Jeep since I was 16 years old. Sold it a few weeks ago with 157,000 miles. This is a love/hate relationship. I loved the interior, exterior, and handling of this vehicle. I had just about everything except steering wheel replaced on this car. Brakes were constantly an issue. Transmission went out at 100,000. Belt tensioner, thermostat, sway bar, alternator, vacuum tubing, oil pressure gague, hood shocks, hubs, driver and passenger side windows all went out and had to have it all replaced. The center console malfunctioned several times and thankfully was all covered under warranty. It took 4 trips to the dealer to get this fixed. I wished it was reliable. Never again!

2011 Grand Cherokee hits the mark - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jeff C. - December 13 - 10:00 amI replaced a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder that had never given me any trouble so going back to a vehicle with a domestic badge was a tough decision. However, I must say that my 2011 GC limited 4x4 (v6 motor) is smoother, quieter and more responsive than my Pathfinder ever was. Exterior and Interior fit and finish is excellent. The GC handles very much like a sports sedan with great stability in corners compared to the truck like SUVs of old. I have taken several long trips in the GC since my purchase logging 4000 miles and the GC has been great. The V6 has plenty of power to cruise the interstate with little to no engine noise. Im very happy with GC.

Red hot 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Nano - December 13 - 10:00 amGreat suv, I love it! Handles like a dream, especially on these mountain roads. Plenty of power and nice interior with easy to use controls. Rides like my Lexus RX300 did, maybe even better. I had a Jeep Cherokee 15 years ago and this aint nothing like the old one as far as ride and comfortably. This is a home run! Look out Toyota!

Solid Car Overall.... - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By beefkake - December 13 - 7:03 amBought an 05 Lauredo 4x4. 110 miles currenlty. No issues but I actually did the maintence....my local mechanic told me you gotta change the transaxle fluid on jeeps or it will burn up. Keep up on that and your oil changes. Got 70k out of 1st set of brakes, 100k out of two original tires. Replaced the tires with General Grabber HTS, much quieter now at speed but lost 1mpg highway. Good tradeoff as far as I am concerned. Be forwarned, everything you do to this car is expensive. Brakes were 1k, tires 800.00, oil $50, Transaxle flush $200.00 Do the maintence though or just save yourself the trouble and buy a Toyota. Overall a very good car my my standards though!

Worst of the Jeeps - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By chelo - December 9 - 2:00 amAfter having 3 cherokee vehicles this is by far the worst. The power windows failed 3 times, there is a sensor for the transfer case that has failed several times giving you a hard shift change at about 20 miles(and I mean hard!!!). The cd changer skips on most of the disks at between tracks 6 and 8 and the driver rear mirror fails to remember its position frequently thus having to readjust almost daily. This would not be so bad if the dealer had taken care of reparing it but they did not time after time just gave excuses that the vehicle did not failed during their tests.

Going down hill fast - 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By icefan1 - December 8 - 10:00 amI bought this bad boy used in late 1995 with 38k on it. While it has never left me stranded or failed to start, it ha been a money pit for the last few years with $1500-2000 per year going towards major repairs. I just found out today it needs new brakes (again) and about $800 in engine work. I told the shop to do the brakes and forget the rest. I plan on just keeping the oil changed and some new plugs until the thing wants to run no longer, which may be soon. While it has been a fun car, I would not buy another one due to the poor build quality and repair expense. I would not recommend a used one as a purchase unless you posses mechanical abilities and can do major repairs on your own.
