Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Transmission problems - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By MaiaG - May 17 - 12:40 amI received my jeep as a Christmas present. It has been amazing! I had so many problems with getting my other cars stuck in the snow. It was a major relief to get my jeep. I never got stuck again! However, my jeep has a very inconvenient problem. Sometime when I drive it the transmission will not shift. I have to pull over and turn off the vehicle, but then it works just fine! Also, the tire pressure light comes on randomly and makes a dinging noise. I like how my jeep heats up fast and the heated seats work wonderful.

2016 Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary Edition - 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Sheryl - May 17 - 12:12 amIve owned my Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary Edition for 2 weeks and I LOVE it! I have never owned a jeep before- in fact I am comparing it to three Toyotas I have owned previously. The ride is smoother, cabin quieter, and gas mileage is equal to our 2011 RAV 4. I drive during the week mostly on the highway but do not find the EES annoying when in town. The Bluetooth sound quality is clear and easy for both parties to hear. I am happy with my purchase and have no buyers remorse. I hope to say I will be one of those dedicated Jeep owners that can brag about 200,000 miles and still be going strong.

Great Vehicle, but - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Loveland - May 15 - 12:53 pmI bought this vehicle new in Sept 2002. Love everything about it, except that the darn engine light comes on at least every six months. The latest is for something to do with emissions. Come on, this is ridiculous.

Great Ride, Crappy Nav/U Connect - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Q-Zar - May 15 - 10:00 amI have had this SUV for a month and a half. It rides great. Not truck like at all. Great exterior and interior. Quality of the interior is the best Ive seen and felt. I bought the V6 and its power is adequate, not great, but not weak either. I personally dont think you need the Hemi unless you want to tow something heavy. My biggest complaint is the Nav/ Uconnect system. The voice recognition poor. You cant type in the phone number you want to call. You cant see a list of your contacts to select via touchscreen. I prefer the nav/computer system in my BMW. Graphics on the Nav is really poor, but I didnt buy it for that, rather its great ride and off road ability

Now thats more like it! - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By RchNrg - May 15 - 10:00 amI have had 2 Grand Cherokees prior to this one. (1995 and 2000) I had no reliability problems, but Jeep never made substantial improvements. Both of these older vehicles rocked from side to side, and the interior and overall quality left a lot to be desired. My new 2011 V-8 Limited with 20" wheels provides a completely different ride. The leather interior is 1st class (no BMW hard plastic feel) It is so quiet, and feels so solid. The electronics are lots of fun, and the Garmin NAV in the 430N system is great. Although it feels a little large to drive its pure comfort. (sold my Escape Hyb for the Jeeps towing power) I hate to say it, but except for the mpg there is nothing like a V-8.

Red Velvet Beauty - 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By old Bob - May 13 - 8:59 amWe bought the least expensive 2WD model with the V-6. GREAT quiet solid ride. Handles great. Cant tell when this 8 speed shifts; its so smooth. Cant comment on dealer service or reliability as we only have 800 miles on it. I really hope it stands up as well as our 2007. Fuel economy is 24 mpg with 50-50 driving. Took a 50 mile trip doing 60-65 and got 30 mpg with the air on! I dont know why reviewers rate fuel economy bad-this is a heavy(4,500 pounds) beautiful riding safe vehicle, not some tuna fish can dwarfmobile with a 4 cylinder that seats 4 people and has little storage area and couldnt tow a rowboat or go through 4 inches of water. Disappointed it didnt come with a CD player(were old and still use THEM). Dont like that the radio comes on whenever you start the vehicle. Big negative that twice it has shifted into low gear.

Hemi is great - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By NRJYZD1 - May 12 - 5:20 amExcelent ridability and features. Comfortable with a very nice interior. I like the new dash and placement of the controls. Very well though out vehicle. A bit too much plastic on the exterior, but I will address later.

Best Car Ever - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jeep Fan For Life! - May 11 - 11:53 pmI love my Jeep. This is my 1st car that my parents had gotten me and it was a very good pick. The gas mileage is OK if you hold up on your right foot. Right now I have 120,500 miles on the car and it sounds and drives like new. I have had it for almost a year and it has never gave me any problems. It rides just as good as my dads Lincoln at less than half of the price. I have 10-way power seats and a top of the line radio system. When I first got the car, I had a big tune up and then the only big thing that I had to do with the car was replace a bad output speed sensor. If you treat your car good, your car will treat you good. Just make sure you change all of your oil and it will go on forever. I love my Jeep.

My 1st Jeep - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By DavidM - May 10 - 10:00 amI have been holding breath about this car since we 1st bought it since our expectations about car quality have been set by Honda, Benz and other European cars we have owned! Two month ago, my confidence took a beating due to a recall notice that my friend (Jeep basher) called me about. Also, the breaks are gone already at 15000 miles!! On down hill slopes towards Santa Cruz, the car shakes when I press on the breaks to decelerate the car! Granted that my wife is the primray driver and they are torture on breaks, I would have expected a lot more distance with the breaks. The bottom line is that I feel less secure with this car

Ya man its a jeep - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Cale Unruh - May 8 - 12:00 pmThis is a very good vehicle. It has lots of power, great for offroading, and its good for the highway. The person before me didnt take very good care of it but I have put some money into it and now it runs great. I had to replace the transmission, the water pump, and the alignment was a little screwy when I bought. Im very glad I bought it over a truck I was looking at. I recommend this vehicle to anyone who doesnt care about gas mileage. I get about 16 mpg.
