Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • I love my Jeep - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I was just shocked at some of the reviews that I was reading that I had to join to write my own. Ive only owned my Jeep for about 9 months and I love my Jeep The 3.7 isnt the biggest or fastest but I fixed that with a cold air intake that I purchased at an auto parts store and now I have just as much horsepower as any other v6 out there. I would almost gaurantee a little bit more. And as for the people that are complaining about the transmission and stuff the only thing I have had a problem with is my pinion gasket which Jeep was more than happy to replace and Im the second owner. The Grand Cherokee I think all around is great and plan on buying another one when Im done with this one.

This is my second Jeep product (I previously owned a 2000 Wrangler). These cars are tanks. Outside of the normal wear and tear stuff (lets face it, this is an 8 year old car), I havent had any major problems. This thing is a ball to drive and handles anything that I can throw at it (snow, mud, heavy rain.) I have turned my wife into a Jeep lover as well (she recently got a 2006 Liberty which she has fallen head over heels for). While the rest of my friends cars break down and get stuck in various weather related driving hazards, I can honk my horn as I drive by them and wave.

  • JGC 3.0 deisel 6 months, 11,000 miles, no complaints - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

IÂ’ve had the JGC Overland 4x4 with 3.0 diesel for 8 months, and have no complaints. We go back and forth from the Bay Area to our house in Tahoe once a month and IÂ’m amazed how good the mileage is. I love the diesels torque. Great gas mileage and power. The tranny is as smooth as silk (Yes smooth.. No clunking) and the paddle shifters are very nice in the mountains. WeÂ’ve used the snow mode a few times and it gives me a real sense of confidence. I did get a safety recall notice and brought in in last week, and had the work done. I was a little surprised when I went there that there were 8 flash updates required. But it has sophisticated computer system in it, so I should not be surprised.

  • 2005 Grand Cherokee Limited - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have been driving Grand Cherokee Limiteds since 1994 and they have come a long way. They are built better and quieter and handle extremely well. The Limited is luxurious and extremely comfortable yet amazingly responsive. The vehicle is smooth, responsive and extremely comfortable but still gives the driver the feedback and general feel of a sport utility to make the drive fun and non limo like. The off road experience is second to none for those who like to drive off of the asphalt sometimes. Great vehicle for Drivers and their families too! Generally

  • Bad Tranny - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Bad design for Quadratrac...Requires replace of transfer case after about 50000 miles. Best to replace with Select-Trac transfer case instead. Other than that....a good vehicle!

  • Just bought the used 06...its 2010 now! - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I just purchased the Laredo 65 yr anniversary edition. Its a great looking car. I like all the features. Ive heard jeeps drive rough so I didnt expect to much comfort before test driving. Im pretty content with it. However, Ive had it for 2 days and Im noticing some no-nos already! The problems Im seeing already is the low tire pressure light comes on at random. But the big thing is the seat belt light comes on and chimes through out the entire ride even with my seat belt on and nooo weight in the passenger seat! Im in the process of getting it fixed (hopefully), but I just wanted to put those problems out there just in case somebody else had the same issues

  • Finally... - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

A Jeep with some luxury. Ran my 97 into the ground with 200k+ miles and finally upgraded to the LTD with Hemi and all the options. Smooth, smooth ride for this heavy SUV and great power. All the features such as smartbeam and rainsense work surprisingly well. Very impressed.

  • I Just Totaled One - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Despite the horrible accident, the Grand Cherokee was a very good vehicle. I was hit by 2 cars and walked away with only a stuff neck...not bad. I had my Laredo for 3 months and really liked it. It doesnt ride as smoothly as other SUVs in its class, but I felt safe, secure and compfortable behind the wheel. They made some changes from the 99 model I had which I dont like - - the 2003 doesnt come with crossbars for the roof rack, they made an extra step in the "fold the back seat down" process, the front and back seats are made of less-expensive material and it doesnt come with floor mats. Despite this, I would recommend this vehicle.

  • 3rd JGC & 1Jeep Cherokee - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

My first was an 88 Jeep Cherokee Limited, the next three were JGC 94, 96 & 2000. Only problem with any of them was AC coil on 96 at 65,000 miles. Had one set of rotors go bad AFTER I had a tire company turn them(ground down). If the rotors warp or need turning, just purchase new ones instead. $10 to turn and only $40 for a new one. Rotors never seem to last after having them turned down, just spring for the new rotors and new brake shoes. Their easy to put on yourself and the entire job will cost $100 and a couple of hours for one set if wheels...as opposed to paying a mechanic shop $300-500.

  • WARNING DO NOT BUY - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Bought this Jeep 5 months ago, have had nothing but problems, Had to rebuild front diff, bearings and now the front control module, which was not covered under the warranty... Wish i would have read more about this vehicle before i thought of buying this, i would have changed my mind....Very disappointing, Love the Style of the Jeep but very poor quality, Will trade this in soon as i can and gonna stick with Toyota or Honda.
