Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

The ride is absoultly smooth just like riding on air. It takes the bumps very well. So far it is a sound car...

I have the I-6 4X4 with an automatic transmition. It has been a comfortable road car. On several cross country trips it has averaged 21 MPG. Around the city it has averaged 17 MPG. It has proven to be extremely reliable. The car is very comfortable and has very good handling. The four wheel drive is a major plus in our midwest winters.

  • the vehicle for you - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Traded in a 1998 6 cyl.Laredo. Have to tow 3500 pound boats occasionally and I need the extra oomph provided by Hemi. Solid feel, has authority, pep, and power...Storage space not as much as 1998, rear seats dont come up to put cables, etc. in. Overall, very happy. Glad to see Mercedes engineering that when cruising on the highway it goes back to 4 cylinder, sure helps mileage. . . Love the silver paint job. This will be a good seller, a real improvement and folks will be happy with the Hemi. AND, a lot of bang for the buck.

  • JEEP = JUNK JUNK JUNK - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I put very limited mileage on this vehicle annually, and it is by far the worst quality vehicle I have ever owned. I have put new brakes and rotors on this vehicle TWICE, a front drive shaft, rear wiper motor, CV boots on the front TWICE, front radiator fan TWICE, rear CV boots, and a few other little things not worth mentioning, but you get the idea. Jeep equals junk, and thats the bottom line. I will never own another Daimler-Chrysler product again, and neither will my family or friends. Not to mention the service at the dealership left something to be desired.

  • Best vehicle Ive owned - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

We have used the vehicle for cross country drives, riding in style for a night out, towing a large boat, and off roading in the California desert. It has handled all tasks extremely well. I love the power and acceleration of the V8 engine. The heated leather seats are extremely comfortable. The cockpit layout is great, including audio controls on the steering wheel. However, I have replaced the brake rotors twice, and regular maintenance has cost me more a year than any previous vehicle Ive owned. The vehicle also has more road noise on the highway and the fuel economy is pretty average for an SUV.

  • This Jeep is the best ever - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Ive had 2 jeeps before this (2004 overland and 2004 limited.) I must say if your looking for vehicles in this class, you have to get this one. Its really nice (wood, wooden steering wheel, leather, and much more. the fastest Ive had this SUV up to is 140mph (actual speed) and this car has no governor. In all the Jeeps Ive had I have never had one break down.

  • Not Sure About This One Yet - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Is my third JGC, had a 98 and 04 prior. Recently purchased and still not used to the differences between this one and the 04 that I traded. Not sold on the new 3.7 L engine (bring back the 4.0!)and am a little nervous driving it after reading all the reviews on here about shifter/acceleration problems. Exterior looks good and it seems solid built but interior a little tacky and the seats do stain terribly. Doesnt have as much room. Kind of doesnt feel like a Jeep compared to the old one. Avg. 18 mpg and rides smoother than 04. Have to wait and see on this one.

  • I love this vehicle so far! - 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Ive only driven it for a little less than 2000 miles, but so far its been great..Quiet and a smooth ride. The sound system is great..lots of options here too (e.g., satellite radio, cd, ipod, etc.). Great looking exterior and interior..I love the backup camera..the navigation..Getting about 20 mph in the city. This my first SUV and I looked at them all! Edge, Explorer, MB ML350, SRX, BMW X3, X5...Took my time too. Ive been looking at the Jeep sense this model first appeared. Anyway, I thought for the value, options, etc this was a great buy!

Changed battery, brakes and tires. This vehicle has been very solid car all around. Great in snow. Could get better fuel economy. Tows my 4500# trailer with straight six.
