Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Before Fiat came to the rescue, Chrysler was dying - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jdwhite9 - August 10 - 9:36 amThe premium radio and navigation system is out of date, of poor quality and no upgrades available. The sound system has almost no memory, you need to "plug in" a hard drive with your downloads or carry the CDs with you. Worst of all, the drivers seat has some component that will periodically "thump" you at your kidney level on the door side of the seat. I dont know if it is the lumbar support springing out, or something else. Since it only happens periodically, the dealer wont try to fix my new car with this little "gift" from Chrysler. Just like they dont consider the "Premium Navigation" system not knowing that I-49 is open north of Shreveport as being any concern. Service sucks.

Got Jeep? - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Got Jeep? - August 9 - 7:26 pmOwned 2001 sport Cherokee. Loved it!, I had 160k miles and never had any problems other then the air conditioner went out. Drove it for 7 years. I test drove many vehicles looking for fuel economy. Came down to it I was not giving up my Jeep! Until I found my 2007 Laredo with a sticker price as the same as my 2001 sport. I was willing to give my Jeep for a Jeep! Every Jeep owner will not give it up and if they did wish they had another! I love it, only 2k miles on it, but I have no worries. Bought the life time warranty and the rust proof coating! I I would not buy a Chrysler other then the Jeep. I just cant get over the k-car. I love my Jeep!

UNRELIABLE - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By BTU - August 8 - 2:00 amDo not even think about purchasing a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have had nothing but problems from the start. The rotors needed to be sanded down at 13k miles (at my own expense), the computer has been replaced, the steering column and ignition have been replace and now the hydrolics on the brake system have failed. If you do foolishly purchase a Jeep make sure to buy an extended warranty with rental car included. Youll need it. You will be driving the rental more than the Jeep. Trust me.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Bige - August 8 - 2:00 amComing to the end of a 3yr lease on a 1999 Grand Cherokee. Here are some of the lowlights of my last 3yrs. Doorlocks went out twice,1st year and again in the last 6 mos. . Drivers seat weld broke. Mickey mouse plastic trim shows much wear . Trasmission occasionally slips. No guts at all. All my driving was onroad, I couldnt imagine taking this wimpy POS offroad. I would absolutely never buy or lease another Daimler-Chrysler product ever again. Just a terrible product! Good luck to anybody who would buy one of these in any year. Every other Grand Cherokee owner Ive spoken to has had a similar experience

Needs to be redesigned - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Beauregard56 - August 8 - 2:00 amI bought mine in July. I have 7000 miles. Poor Gas mileage, Front drivers seat is uncomfortable, U Connect does not work good,Satellite radio fades in and out when you go under trees limbs. Overall I wish I had not bought the vehicle, I definitely would not recommend anyone else buying one. I am planning on getting rid of mine as soon as possible. You cannot even go 35 miles per hour with the windows open because of the rear Thumping noise from the rear window. The standard wheels might as well be steel black rims, at least they would look good manufacturers stop trying to fool the American public and stop trying to be so cheap

No accelleration - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Amy - August 7 - 12:13 amI have JUST started having problems like everyone is describing, stepping on the gas and no acceleration. Malfunction light came and I just happen to be at my mechanics, he ran diagnostic and said it was definitely a problem with the transmission. That was last week and the light has gone off and it running just fine, again. Thankfully. FOR NOW! That was scary!

Far better than its general reputation - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Todd - August 4 - 4:53 amBought from original owner with 130k, put 58 k on it in 3 years. Does everything you could ask of an SUV. No electrical problems, had to replace original water pump and radiator at 160k. Now have to fix rear hatch and 1 window motor. Great for 3 years ownership of a 17 year old Chrysler. If you need an inexpensive SUV buy one. Its an early SUV so you get what it is not some fluffed up car based nonsense that cant tow or go off road. Does all we want and more. Original paint still 90%+ only a few scratches, quality is great. Best Chrysler product made.

Do yourself a favor...buy something else - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By fedup0174 - August 4 - 2:00 amI bought my 2002 JGC Limited with the 4.7L high output engine in December of 2001 and have regretted it ever since. 30 minutes after I drove it off the lot a hose came off, overheating the engine and stranding me. The Jeep has been at the dealership 6 times for brake problems and after over $2000 in repairs still have the same problem. The mirror memory has never worked, has to be set every time vehicle is started. It likes to die at stop lights for no apparent reason and after a $1200 "tune-up" at the Dealer and given a clean bill of health continues to do so. The starter has failed and been in the shop twice and recently started failing again.

My Laredo E is an excellent vehicle - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By crpatriots - August 3 - 2:44 pmI am extremely happy with my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo E 4x4. I have had it for 6 months now, about 8,000 miles. I am happy to say that I have experienced none of the engine/electronics/transmission issues that some other reviewers have written about. For me, my JGC has given me the perfect blend of size, performance, and comfort. I am constantly getting compliments on how it looks (inside and outside), as well as how it rides. I average about 20 miles per gallon with about half city, half highway driving. I came from a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe 4x4 (which was another good vehicle, honestly) - but the extra room and power of the JCG makes me happy I "upgraded."
