Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Not worth the price - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By dazedgrl - August 14 - 11:03 amI fell in madly love with my green Jeep grand Cherokee 2 years ago. Ive taken amazing care of her hoping that this would be the vehicle to last me the next 10 years. At my last oil change it was noticed my battery was seriously corroded. Last week I started it up and ended up with a funny rattle. I let the Jeep warm up like usual but when I backed out of the driveway and pushed on the gas nothing happened. I was stuck in the road. Took it to the dealership and they say nothing is wrong. A week later it wouldnt start it was towed to the dealership. They said it was my battery but still having issues with it hesitating you push the gas. Ive been stranded twice in the last two weeks.

Departed Friend - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Kyle - August 11 - 10:06 pmI recently totaled my Jeep Grabd Cherokee. I had 165,465 miles on it. It was absolutely reliable until 150,000 miles when the power steering, starter, and catalytic converter went out. I bought it with 7k miles on it and it was the best vehicle I ever owned. Wife is now driving the 2005 Grand Cherokee. I also had the problem with the differentials. Dont let the dealer scare you! They pressured me at 90,000 miles to replace them. Well at 165,000 miles they were still holding up. I also did not let them mess with the transmission.

Loved my Jeep, but - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Tim - August 11 - 4:00 amI loved my Jeep. Heres why. Previously, I had a 94 Grand Cherokee with the I-6 engine. That lasted us 12 years before I sold it and bought my 04 (in 06), and the last several years that Id owned the 04, Id had a 3500 lb. boat to pull. it was a dog. But, my 04, with the V8, was AWESOME for towing. It was so much fun to drive, too. But, in the end, the reliability killed me. I had to replace the power window mechanism on 3 of the 4 doors, the body was starting to rust (at 6 years of age), and Id had to replace a front wheel bearing. If not for the rust, I probably would have kept it, but today I drove home my new (to me) Honda Pilot. 16 years of owing JGCs, over, sigh.

Dont Buy This Vehicle - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Alex Drake - August 11 - 2:00 amAt under 60,000 miles Ive already replaced both the front and rear differentials. Now Im having transmission problems as outlined in bulletin 21-02-99 (harsh 1-2 shift at speeds of 10-15 mph). Jeep will not stand by their transmissions or assist me in any way. I will never buy a Jeep or Chrysler vehicle again and I strongly recommend you look elsewhere unless you like visiting repair shops.

GC Limited Ecodiesel - Mileage & Torque King - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By sbackart - August 11 - 1:34 amRecently switched from Honda to the Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel and could not be happier. A realistic 32 MPG HWY and 24 MPG mixed driving for a 5,300 pound 4WD vehicle is incredible. With its maximum torque available at ~2000 RPM, acceleration from 0-35 outperforms most "sports" sedans...which makes it imminently drivable around town. Sport mode is essential for spirited driving; Eco mode is docile and delivers best fuel economy (~24 MPG City). The interior is very comfortable, and of high quality. I love the open pore wood trim. Only 1 problem to date (DEF injector), which was fixed quickly by the dealer. No other issues!

Perfect size - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By joe - August 10 - 1:03 pmThe drivers power seat is too high for anyone over 510". The cargo area is a little small. The leather seats are mostly thick soft plastic. The rest of the interior is hard plastic; even the few padded areas have too little padding. Other than that I am very happy with my Grand Cherokee. It gives an excellent ride on or off road. The seats are very comfortable. The stereo is top notch. It has a very solid and stable feel to it that is hard to describe. Lower the seats and add some padding to the arm rests and dash and you have an SUV that will be the best in this price range.

2007 Overland 4X4 - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Denny - August 10 - 12:46 pmIm very pleased with this vehicle. Great power , comfort, all around driveability. 5500 miles so far. No problems. Pulls my 4500 lb boat effortlessly. Gas mileage is actually slightly better than claimed. I had a 2004 VW V8 Toureg. The Jeep is a much better SUV all the way around. The park assist has already saved me from a backing accident. The standard features are all that one could ask for. Id buy it again in a heartbeat.
