Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Horrible Gas Mileage, Very Poor Interior - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Ive driven this jeep now for around 24 months and am about to turn it back it to the dealer after my flease is up...thank god! I must say, for a quickly depreciating $30,000+ Chrysler vehicle, should I be surprised? I have the 65th Anniversary Edition that came out around Jan-Feb, 2006. The interior leaves much to be desired--hard plastic everywhere, questionable fit and finish and seat fabric that easily stains with the slightest bit of a rain drop. The gas mileage is atrocious. I average 14.2 mpg, granted, I live in Atlanta and drive mostly in city type traffic. Also, Im sure the 4x4 version I have and never use on the newly paved suburban roads isnt helping out much either.

  • The Unfixable Water Leak - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is the fourth time that Ive had water leak in to my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When I discovered the issue, I contacted the dealership. They had my car for 3 weeks and told me that after extensive testing they could not recreate the leak and to come and pick up my vehicle. Two days later I was the dealer again. Weeks passed with my Jeep in the dealership service bays until they fixed it. A month later I was back with more water leaking into my trunk, pooling where the spare is located, and flowing in to the rear floor boards. It took them another 2 weeks to fix it. I had my car for two months with no issue. Currently, my car is sitting at another dealership with a water leak.

  • Buyers Remorse? - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I had a 2000 Grand Cherokee and traded it in for the 2005 because I loved the new body style. I have to say that I am disappointed in the way that the dash was designed. Im not thrilled about the textured plastic and the new placement of the handles on the side. To me it looks cheap. I was willing to overlook that small detail to have the new body style though. I am having what I believe to be transmission problems and I have had to take it in for a software recall already. I was told this would fix my transmission problem, but it hasnt. I am also disappointed in the lack of power this car has. I had a V6 before and it had much more pep than this one.

  • 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Coming from a 2000 Wrangler, I wanted something that didnt shake going over 70 mph, could handle some rough terrain, big enough for travel, and get me to work every day. I was looking at the Edge, MDX, Outback, Venza, Sorento, Explorer and Murano. Went into the Jeep dealership to value my trade and came out purchasing the 2011 Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 25X package. Hands down, the best bang for your buck. I purchased the V6 which was more than adequate, the V8 will have you flying. Amazed by the interior, which is literally like no other Jeep product I have stepped into. Exterior speaks for itself. Detroit has stepped up its game and I am along for the ride.

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4X4 Diesel (ADV TECH) - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is an update to a couple of reviews I have made on this car. As much as it pains me to say, please avoid the 2014 JGC Diesel and probably Jeeps altogether. My car has currently around 9K miles and has been in the shop 5-6 times. The last few times have been related to the diesel engine (catalytic converter was changed, engine light turned on a few times, and now a pipe in the diesel engine cracked. This resulted in exhaust fumes going everywhere. It is a true shame as this has been a car I had been waiting to buy for years. Chrysler really needs to improve its build quality and reliability as well as provide options for folks with lemons. I guess I am going the lemon law route. AVOID IT

  • no complaints - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I bought it last year, Ive had to replace a few things but thats to be expected in a used car. I dont think a have owned had a better car. It does everything I have asked of it. Last year I had to help my father out with a half fallen tree. We thru a 1 1/2 in rope in the top, and with a little pull the rest came down. Now were not talking about a small tree when it was hit by lighting it stud over 6 stories high. And the part we pulled down made up most of it.

  • JGC Brakes break my heart - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

With 80K miles on my 99 JGC Im now looking at my 5th front end brake job. Warped rotors have been turned, turned again, and replaced with after-market rotors. Still going bad after just a few thousand miles. Otherwise, its been a fun vehicle - plenty of class and comfort. Just wish my brakes didnt break my heart.
