The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Grand Cherokee!!!! - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By JNJ - December 6 - 10:00 amI bought a 01 Grand Cherokee limited 4wd V8 from Dedham Auto Mall in Dedham, MA and I couldnt be happier. The dealership was great and so isnt the car. I use this car for both on-road everyday driving and occasionally off- road when I get a chance. Its the best. I havent had a single problem with this car and it is the second new body style grand cherokee I have owned. I love it, and I will keep it as long as I can until I want a new Jeep.

Very nice vehicle - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By sleepyweasel - December 6 - 10:00 amThis has been a very nice vehicle so far. We have put 1300 miles on it in the month that we have owned it. Have averaged 17.8 mpg with the V8 in a mix of city and highway driving. Biggest complaint so far comes from a fat kid that put a door ding in it on the third day of ownership. The dealership we purchased the vehicle from was very pleasant to deal with, especially after being lied to by a Mitsubishi dealer. The Jeep handles well on the open highway and has a tight turning radius for the parking lots. Ample power and torque from the V8. Quiet at highways speeds. 5 speed transmission always seems to be in the right gear for the situation.

Not Recommended :( - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The performance is great on the V8, as is the features we have (leather, navigation, DVD, satellite radio) but we take great care of our vehicles, and unfortunately this generation of Grand Cherokee has held up the worst of all of the ones weve owned (weve owned three out of the four generations of Grand Cherokee). The center console lid is worn, the rear DVD headphones broke, etc. They claim it is "quieter than a Jaguar S-Type 3.0", but the transmission is quite noisy. I dont recommend this generation of Grand Cherokee.

Ruined on Mopar products - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By loveanicecar - December 4 - 4:16 amDrive it for a week prior to purchasing, you will change your mind if coming from a GM vehicle. This is the second Chrysler product I have owned and the second I have been unhappy with. For the 2nd time since 08/07 I have had gear shifter problems and is in the shop to have it replaced again. Unlike GM dealerships and their catering to customers while their vehicle is in for service I was handed a lowest of the line Jeep Patriot as a loaner. Just goes to show how much Jeep appreciates their customers. I will NEVER purchase another Chrysler product once I get rid of this one. From GM to Chrysler is like going from luxury to ghetto in my opinion.

Love My Jeep! (: - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By carguru12 - December 1 - 9:41 pmI purchased my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee last year and LOVE it. This is my first car and I got it for a good price. My Jeep has the V8, which is very powerful, and returns good fuel economy for its engine and the type of vehicle it is. My Jeep is loaded and has leather, power everything, keyless entry, the information screen at the bottom of the center stack, 4WD, and I put in a Sony stereo with Pioneer speakers. The Jeep starts up every time like it should and is a very reliable vehicle. Ill always be a Jeep person! (:

Still tight and dependable at 133,000 - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Gregg S. - December 1 - 3:50 pmI bought this car at the end of 04 with 45k mi for 13 Gs, It is a loaded 4.0L/2WD Laredo. Front speakers were blown, no problem just fade to back, still sounds great and is still like that today. Had a couple of cooling system problems the first year, but the 1st shop didnt fix it right so it should have only been one...$300. Bad coil pack and heater hoses in year 2...$540. Oil changes, tires and brakes years 3 4 5...all maintenance so it doesnt count. The only other cost is window regulators, which to me is maint. too since Ive never had a car where they didnt fail. So $840 in repairs over 5 years...I feel blessed! No rattles, suspension is tight, engine strong, paid off...love it!!!

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Laredo Sport - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The transmission went out at 75K miles Recently, he has had problems with the starter (intermittent starting problems). I was hesitant to buy a Chrysler product due to known quality and reliabilty issues but decided to take a chance on Jeep because he liked it. Never again! Once everything is corrected, I will sell the vehicle and buy a Honda.

Great Vehicle - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By astrak1001 - November 28 - 10:28 amIve had my Jeep GC LMTD V8 since 2003. I purchased the vehicle with 79,000 miles and am now turning 200,000 miles with only limited repairs. I have had to replace the transmission once, the alternator once and the power window motor on the front passenger side once. All of these repairs were performed at around 150,000 miles. My Jeep has been all around the country and most recently from AZ to NE and has never broken down. I have had the brake problems, but this was remedied by a competent mechanic in Mesa AZ. Overall I would say this is one of the most reliable, toughest vehicles I have ever owned. I would definitely purchase another one.

Do anything, go anywhere, no problem... - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By BikerAl - November 27 - 6:40 amLove it! This is my second GC and I havent had any problems with either of them. Im hard on vehicles and my Jeeps take everything I dish out. Power is plentiful with the Hemi and its very comfortable to drive, on or off-road. Hopefully the Jeep brand will remain intact post Chrysler bankruptcy.
