Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Bad Brakes & Tranny - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By JF - December 23 - 2:06 amHad brakes in for repair several times. Finally had new rotors installed by brake specialist (they claimed Jeep should have had a recall because of original brake quality). Just had the transmission replaced at 89,000 ($3900). Have been driving all my vehicles for last 40 years over 100,000 miles and never had to replace transmission.

2011 Grand Cherokee 5.7 - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Pete Clay - December 21 - 10:00 amJust took delivery of our 2011 Grand Cherokee Limited w/ 5.7 Hemi. This is our 7th GC Ltd in a row, beginning with a 1993. It is light years ahead of any of the others weve owned, and weve mostly liked them as they suit our purposes particularly snow driving in ski season up north. I Have a Mercedes S-500 and a Corvette, and this Jeep is finished to a much higher degree than either, both of which i purchased new. The quality and features are superb, and we feel the vehicle is an unbelievable value at an msrp of about $44,000. We were able to buy it better than that and are completely satisfied so far. Did not want the 50 profile tires on the Overland or the 20" wheels, thats why a LTD

10 years trouble free - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By mm - December 20 - 6:53 amBought new in 96, now with 110K. Runs great, always starts. Have always done routine maintenance and that has paid off. Lately though I am putting more money into it each year. Recent radiator, AC leaks, 1st muffler/exhaust replacement last year. Good brakes, strong engine. Take care of it and it will do likewise.

Lovin my JEEP! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Joretta - December 17 - 3:02 pmI have had a recall on my 4 wheel drive which has been repaired 3 times. I am now awaiting a call from my case manager to see what Chrysler is willing to do this time. Chrysler kept my Jeep for a week and it would appear as though it is now repaired. Thanks to Edmunds, I will keep this review updated. I neglected to mention....my door handles ( all 4) are held on with plastic and have all broken....I have had to replace my driver side door panel so I can exit the car.....very poor materials in that respect. I rarely use my back except to transport my dogs to the vet. They do need replacement however. They have now fallen out. Anyone in the backseat is unable to exit the vehicle without outside assistance!! By the way....my Jeep is a 5.7 hemi and she runs like a scalded dog!! As of 11/23/17 nothing has changed. Door handles continue to fall into floor board!!

Hit the Road Jeep and Dont You Come Back - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By MRumple - December 17 - 1:50 pmThis is the third Jeep my family has owned and it still lives up to expectations ... a piece of junk. Good year tires make the car vibrate at high speeds (why did I buy a HEMI?). Interior is no good for hauling large items including average sized people. Glove box is small as is the cargo area. DVD is not driver friendly at all. In order to reset the DVD for my daughter, I have to stop and get in the back seat. Oh, and gas mileage. I knew it would be "not so great." But come on 15-16 mpg highway? Tires have leaked multiple times, Seat belt light errors and now air bag errors to fix. Good things are few but include heat seaters (theyre great), exterior styling, HEMI engine minus the mpg.

Comfy in Colorado - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By BGFATI - December 17 - 8:46 amits my third jeep and couldnt be happier. gas mileage is suspect, possibly due to break in period. very comfortable, great paint, interior controls are very friendly and close without over reaching. what gives with the bug shield?? need a better mounting system for that otherwise beat it up and treat it like a jeep!

4th Jeep Owned - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mike - December 17 - 7:23 amThis is my fourth Jeep vehicle, three Grand Cherokees and one Liberty in between, (dont waste your time with a Liberty). This 2005 is the best of the lot. Comfort and reliability are the best and gas mileage is what they said it would be, not real great. Auto wipers are fabulous, but auto lights could be more sensitive to a dusk environment. Navigation system is limited, but sufficient. Ride is responsive and sure footed. You will feel real good driving this with confidence. They did a real nice job with this vehicle.

steady and reliable - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By John Giuffrida - December 16 - 10:00 pmMy 98 had 2 miles when I first sat in it; it now has 131k. I have not put a penny into engine work yet and she still starts on the first try. I am just this year being plagued by some undercarriage rusting and mechanical difficulties. This has been by far the most steady and reliable car Ive ever owned. I cringe at the thought of selling her.

Great Jeep! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By W. Roberts - December 16 - 3:43 pmPurchased Jeep new on Oct 2002. Jeep has never been back to the shop except for the seat warmer recall. Tires and brakes are original with 63,000 miles and have plenty of wear left. Lots of pep and very comfortable. This is my second Jeep and a great vehicle.
