Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Overland Leather Dash Warped and Blistered - 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jabaseball - December 30 - 8:51 amI bought this car in January of 2012 and by November of that year notice some minor bubbles in leather dash. By mid summer of 2013 it was very noticeable and by early spring of 2014 it was ridiculous. Warps, bubbles, waves in the leather and the plastic inserts. I drive a lot so I was beyond 36K miles by the time I complained though the car has only been in service 26 months or so and mileage has nothing to do with the dashboard disaster. So far the dealer will only respond that it is out of warranty. Other than the dashboard and some minor complaints about paint quality on the non-metallic body parts, the vehicle is excellent.

A Really Fast SUV... - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ARH1956 - December 29 - 10:20 pmThe 6.1 Hemis 400+ ft lbs of torque, from just off idle, partnered with the superb MB 5-speed automatic assure that theres a constant flow of maximum thrust available. What a hoot to drive. I picked up my GC SRT-8 with 9 miles on it & the first tank averaged 10.5 mpg. Hey, thats better than with my H2, LOL. Yesterday, with 500 miles on my SRT-8 I took a 300 mile trip, 40% @ 70mph ...50% @ 55mph ... with a little in town driving mixed in & averaged 16.4 mpg. Hey, I can deal with that.

Red Jeep - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By DP - December 29 - 10:00 amAfter purchasing my Jeep, I had the vehicled into the dealer shop three times during the warranty period because of a leaky transmission. It continued to leak after the warranty ran out. The leak was small, but kept a mess on my garage floor. I maintained the fluid level. At about 85,000 the transmission failed. The vehicle has been back to the transmission shop 5 times because of leaks. It continues to leak.

tahoe bound - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By daroost - December 29 - 10:00 amThis is my second Grand Cherokee, and I love it just as much as the first one. Its a beautiful car that rides very smooth, and has a very luxurious feel to it. My transmission went out on my 95 at 85,000 and I already took my new one in for a transmission recall at 500 miles. The trans is the only complaint I have with Jeep. Would buy another one for sure.

Consumer Reports Hasnt Driven This One! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jeepman1 - December 29 - 10:00 amBefore buying my 03 Grand Cherokee Overland, I did my research on SUVs at different websites. I have a special interest with Consumer Reports. They really do not like the Grand Cherokee. I was hesitant about buying one, but test drove the Overland and fell in love. The power in this SUV is awesome! I love the leather, features, and pretty much everything (except the gas mileage). Gas mileage sucks but pretty much all SUVs get sorry gas mileage. I am happy with my purchase, especially with CarMax in Stockbridge, GA. I would not buy from any other dealer!

Super SUV - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By mikeyp53 - December 29 - 2:00 amFantastic car! Towing is unreal with this. Towed boat from NJ to FL without any problems. Car handled so well I would do it again! Comfortable with tons of room and storage. Gas mileage is pretty good for a V8, much better than my Liberty V6. Id buy it again in a second.

safety concerns - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By osterholzer - December 26 - 12:20 pmI bought this car new in 2007. Two relatively minor problems were repaired by the dealer, one a rattle in the roof due to a loose wire bundle, and a leaking transmission. The serious problem with this car is an inexplicable engine stall during driving and the dealer has been unable to diagnose the problem. This car has stalled suddenly at all speeds to 60 mph, and is clearly dangerous to drive. I have contacted Chrysler, and so far no resolution. If there are others with the same problem, please notify Chrysler immediately.

Pure Joy - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jim alexander - December 24 - 2:36 pmThis vehicle has been maintained consistently. I have changed oil every 5000 miles and brought to dealer for follow up requirements. I live in NYC and only use the the Jeep from June through September to drive upstate to our summer townhouse. The Jeep otherwise is always garaged. The Jeep has saved us in some major snowstorms. I have leased this vehicle since 2000 and am totally happy with it. My company has been paying monthly $300 and now my lease is up and they wont let me re-lease ... so I hate giving up the Jeep.
