Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Honest Grand Cherokee Review - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By forestlake - February 23 - 1:04 amOurs: 2014 Limited 4x4, Diesel, Trail Rated, Adv Tech pkg (loaded). Many electrical problems & after 5-mo in service is being bought back under MI lemon law. But were lucky: came to find that "using" this car was very frustrating. The touchscreen is dangerous to use when driving vs physical buttons/knobs. Just turning on heated seats takes 3-4 steps. Climate controls? More steps. Eyes are constantly searching for controls & impossible to see whats "on" just at a glance. Also, front field of view is somewhat limited. Paddle shifters always in the way. Theres no feel in the shifter (try doing a 3-point turn in the city). Always accidentally hit buttons on wheel when turning in reverse, too.

My best buy ever! - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Carlosky - February 21 - 2:00 amI bought my car on July 1998, brand new. It is now almost 5 years since I bought it and it has 130,000 miles and counting. No problems what so ever, no repairs, no nothing! Comfort, reliability, everything still works as on the first day! If I change it, it will be for another brand new Grand Cherokee Laredo.

First Time Owner: Used 08 JGC - Loredo - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Tim F. - February 16 - 6:13 amBought as subsitute for a FJ Cruiser. FJ is too expensive used. JGC-Loredo was in my P range - meets my wants & requirements. Bought used with ~25K mi. Would not recommend brand new purchase - too expensive. Wife likes it, good crash ratings (5/5 & 4/5). Not so good in traffic. Not driven in bad weather or long trips yet. Price can be great if used. I see lots of older JGCs on the road - leads me to believe it is a quality vehicle. OVERALL RATING: WOULD RECOMMEND. Cheap if used, good quality, fun to drive. Meets SUV and comfort expectations. See other fields for additional info.

Sad and disappointed - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Time to trade - February 15 - 10:00 amI bought this care one year old. I was immediately impressed by the cars comfort and interior styling. It didnt take long before things began to disintegrate, one by one. the dealer just informed me that the entire rear end needs replacing. Estimated cost of another $3000!!!!! I have performed maintenance on this car very religiously. Upkeep has been exhorbitantly expensive and very frequent. Im not Bill Gates, so im trading in.

Disappointing Reliability - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By hjhartii - February 10 - 10:00 amI bought this gorgeous vehicle at one year old with only 15k miles. It was great at first, but since then Ive spent over $2,500 in major repairs including AC compressor, AC accumulator, heater core, and rear engine seal (100,000 miles). Now the catalytic converter is going to cost $750 to replace! This SUV gets lots of miles put on it, but they are gentle miles. Ive been disappointed by the repair costs.

A disappointment - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mafioso - February 10 - 10:00 amIm such a loser. I traded in my reliable Honda Accord for this sexy thing. Within the first 7K, the roters on the breaks got warped and again at 15K and again at 45K and again......Argghhh!! Why doesnt Chrysler fess up and recall this problem? Just found out that the rear differential is shot which is seems to be a common problem with a lot of other reviewers. This vehicle is very sexy but a disappointment in reliability. The maintenance and wear and tear is very expensive. I spent over $5000 in repairs at its 60K regular check up. Im going back to Honda. Anyone wanna buy my 1999 Grand Cherokee?

Great for the money!!! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By CPR - February 10 - 10:00 amMy wife needed a replacement for her tired 94 GC Laredo and we expected to be restricted to a "mini" sport ute. We looked at the Mazda Tribute, the Saturn Vue, etc., but felt like we would have been robbed for the $24K+ price. She really wanted a GC. I knew they listed ~$29K, so I wasnt too enthusiatic about getting one on our budget. Was I wrong! Lets just say that City Motors will be getting more of my business! I cant believe we almost paid more for a mini-ute that you cant really take off road (WAY off road)!!!
