Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

LOVE the Jeep .. love MY price .. a LITTLE nervous - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By B Rich - April 22 - 7:44 pmPlease take my review as a super-initial one, as I just purchased my Jeep yesterday as a surprise for my wife. Im always on Edmunds reading up on cars so i wanted to write one after reading other reviews on the GC. First, at first glance, this SUV is absolutely awesome. I got a silver Limited with the Luxury II package, black interior for less than 40k (last one on the lot, theyre trying to get rid of them before the 16s, I was already pre-approved, etc). The stance and LED run lamps really set this vehicle off. Not a huge fan of the plastic molding along the bottom (wouldnt look as bad if I had a black one) or the single exhaust pipe but theyre not dealbreakers obviously. Love the brake lights as well. The interior is pretty plush. Few " cheap bits" here and there but not really noticeable if youre not a car person or have owned higher end cars. This is my first time owning a vehicle with ventilated seats or paddle shifters so Im anxious to try those out. The panoramic roof is an option I never really considered before but it definitely wowed my wife when she realized it was there. It was fun going through all the display configurations both directly in front and on the 8.4" screen. We wont be getting used to EVERYTHING it can do for a good while I think. One thing that absolutely cracked me up was no CD player. I guess from having Bluetooth, an SD card slot, integrated music apps, aux ports, etc, they figure no one really wants CD players. But we do! Both me and my wife laughed about it after looking in every logical place for it. Reminds me of when we started seeing less and less cars with cassette decks. I saw someone mention not having a liftgate button on their key fob, but mine does so Im not sure if thats just an option/package thing. Glad the liftgate also goes back up if theres an obstruction (read: kids). The Uconnect seems to be a GREAT investment if you can get it. That would be a long paragraph in itself so definitely research it. All in all, just great looking, great feeling car. Could have got a Limited without the Luxury package or even a Laredo and probably been satisfied. The additional options just take it over the top and this is a vehicle we plan to have for a long while so why not. I can only imagine how the Overland and Summit folks feel about theirs. I just personally feel like, at the price I got it for, this vehicle cannot be beat. Im VERY nervous about the reliability and transmission issues Ive heard about (when we parked it for the night, it had 19 miles on the dash). I hope to report back that Im one of the lucky ones with no issues. I heard the same thing about Dodge Chargers in 2011, but I bought one new and didnt have anything major go wrong. Just a few little gremlins the dealership took care of no sweat. If I can say the same or better about this vehicle then its absolutely a hit.

Jeeps are Junk - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By CS - April 22 - 10:00 amToo many problems, in six times for warranty work...as soon as out of warranty, transmission problems. Power window problems, sensor problems, tires wore out very fast..this car will not last to 100K miles. Will never buy another Daimler-Chrysler product in this lifetime.

1999 Grand Cherokee is OK - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By mike c - April 22 - 10:00 amI bought this Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo used when it was 6 months old with 17,000 miles. Other than replacement of a leaky right headlight assembly, and upgrade of front brake pads and rotors, this vehicle has been very good and completely reliable. It has negotiated very steep inclines in excess of 45 degrees; it is comfortable on and off road; it pulls a 4500 lb. trailer with no problems. I would trust this vehicle to go anywhere. The gas mileage is 18 mpg/city. As a suggestion, purchase an extended warranty from warranty direct (7-year, 100,000 mile plan for $1,350), just in case I trashed the transfer case. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone.

no more rotors - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jeneane - April 19 - 10:00 amI love the look of this SUV and i guess that is what got me into trouble. Did not research the mechanics as I will on my next purchase. The brakes are a complete nightmare, pads and rotors replaced 4 times and starting to SHAKE again(all you Jeep owners know what I mean). My fan needs replacing, car overheats when not in motion:( Nice looking and fairly comfortable!

Jeeps for business - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Blackswanks - April 19 - 10:00 amI have owned Jeeps for 25 years. This is the 10th large Jeep. They are great for business use traveling the midwest in all sorts of weather. I used to travel in a BMW 733i, but have only traveled in Jeeps for the past 6 years.

Great to Drive - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Walter Dandridge - April 17 - 3:02 pmI have always been impressed with the driving and handling of my Jeep. Several issues would be the driver front visibility when turning left due to outside mirror placement. Also, the back up camera screen frequently goes to a blue screen. Probably the most downside is the frequent maintenance ever 3 months. Otherwise a great SUV.

Jeep Overland - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Steve DeLuca - April 17 - 2:43 amDrives great in snow and wet conditions, very comfortable, seems to be dependable, have had problems with the radio (lots of static), poor gas mileage 12-14 miles per gallon -- definitely not what was advertised. Interior is very nice (sporty yet custom).

Dont buy early models of any new car - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Bob - April 16 - 6:40 pmHeater does not work in rear seat; Jeep Customer Service is rude and does not respond even when they give you a case number. Spent the first week and second weekend at the dealer with computer problems.
