Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

I love my first jeep - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By contino - January 25 - 7:52 pmThis suv is great, its tough but gentle, quite, and elegant, its the sharpest vehicle out there for the money. At 15000 thousand miles, only one problem with it, a simple wheel alignment when first purchased. The v6 is a solid power plant, after 7000 thousand miles Ive seen the gas mileage at 25 highway and 16 to 18 city, not bad for a vehicle with a 4 wheel drive system and 5 thousand pounds of steel. Sure the engine is not the fastest, but its moves the Jeep with respect, I could live with that at the pump. Cant wait for snow again...

fly by wire - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By crazieglued - January 23 - 11:26 amIt takes a special sort of person to drive a Jeep. If you drive it like a Toyota, you will probably hate it. If you have had Jeeps previously, you know the "when the weather gets ca-ca you pull your select/command trac lever". Not so in this. First time that all time 4WD is at the base model. *Even though the machine delivers top notch treacherous road handling ability, you will forget that its an all time, all wheel drive vehicle and still reach for the lever.* Electronic Gas Pedal is very fickle! It gets confused going up/dwn rolling hills, almost as if it doesnt know if its going up or down the hill, same thing when accelerating at speeds 25-40 mph, I.E. getting on highways from onramps.

Great vehicle, but high maintenance - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Lovemyjeep-o - January 21 - 2:00 amI special ordered this SUV in 1999. It is so comfortable and wonderful to drive. Fortunately, however, I purchased an extended warranty in 2002. There have been air conditioning problems. The starter went out at 42,000 miles. Occasionally, there is a strange noise from the right rear when cornering. There have been other minor problems. The rear end replacement issue was brought up with my Jeep. The dealer had replaced some others but apparently had done so unnecessarily. Bottom line: yes it is worth the aggravation and yes I would buy it again.

Not what I expected - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jrn-cherokee - January 21 - 2:00 amI purchased my Jeep last January. After owning the Jeep for 11 months I am in the process of looking for another Ford. Wheel bearings are gone, howling from either a idler pulley or alternator ($250 for a rebuilt), transmission slipping terribly when it get below 40 degrees F, fogging headlight, leaking tailgate at both the window and gate seal, squeaks and rattles. I have 91K on it now and purchased it with 71K. I have no faith in this vehicle. If you are considering one, get rid of it before 100K. Friend that works for Chrysler said allmost all Jeep Grands need a tranny rebuild then. Wish I had known, my first and last Damlier Chrysler vehicle.

A solid vehicle - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By New Jeep fan - January 21 - 2:00 amI have owned my GC for almost one year, and it is as solid as the day I drove it off the lot. It has proven to be reliable in all weather conditions, and the V8 power is ample. The cold weather package has proven to be my favorite amenity. It is a good size vehicle for city driving and parking, unlike many of the behemoths out there.

HEMI 4x4 - 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By db1988 - January 18 - 12:36 pmAfter driving a Hummer H2 for several years, it was time for something new. I wanted a V8 4x4 SUV, and debated between a Tahoe and a Grand Cherokee. I am certain I made the right choice with the Jeep. I used to think the h2 was nice to drive, but the Jeep is a whole new experience. Much more comfortable, it has all the options (plus more) that the hummer did, and it is a little easier on gas. I have a fully loaded Laredo (Black on Black), and I could not be happier with the vehicle. It drives exceptionally well, has plenty of power, and looks sharp. It has had a few recalls..no big deal. Take it to the Jeep store and they are happy to take care of it. No major issues at 60k miles.

Best SUV on Market - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By J & C - January 15 - 11:06 pmThis is our 5th Grand Cherokee. They all seem to get better. We tow the Cherokee behind a 40 foot motorhome and we dont know its there. We have had many people admire this one as the interior is something special. As long as Chrysler keeps this style in production we will keep buying them. We live where there is snow and the full time 4 wheel drive does the job.
