Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

I have leased this Jeep since mid December of 2007 and overall I am very satisfied with it. Most impressive are the generous incentives for this vehicle and the performance of the 4.7 V8.

4th Jeep - all Gr Ckees. Ive been purchasing Laredo with Rocky Mtn edition - currently equipped with the X-package - perfect for me. Handling is solid as usual. Not as nimble as our Subie Tribeca. Fuel economy is as advertised. Since 05, Im more confident with the handling. The shift placement of the gears has changed - Im not certain if for the better or worse. Outside, nice stylings. Inside, huge improvement. Doesnt seem dated anymore as 05 did. Seats are more comfortable. Steering column and seat placement make for good(better) driving posture. We have two Britax in the back and plenty of leg room for driver, passenger and two boys to kick the seats. Im very satisfied.

Bought on 06 one problem after another not sure why. Replaced the whole car etc brakes brake line wheel bearing alternator 3 times ecu water pump transfer case three time new viscous coupler radio speakers tires ac compressor drive shaft cv boot three times 2 tune ups trunk lift gas is anywhere from 9 mpg to 13 mpg this Jeep only has 100,000 miles on it I dont off road or drive like a crazy person just to the store and school and the problems never end I have been fixing things every month for a year now and I do it myself so I saved a lot if money it would have cost me 10,000 to do at the dealership if I would have knowing this was going to happen I would have never bought it. Do not buy

Engine: Excellent Interior: Comfortable Features: All available, what required for off roading and day to day use. Jeep is giving much more for what money they ask, compare to other brands.

  • Wish I bought 2 - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Great vehicle. I bought it for winter all wheel drive and towing motorcycles. It has done everything well. Comfortable and quiet for travel. Only mechanical issue is a stripped cog on the electric seat adjustment (it gets used a lot). Just reached 60,000 after five years. Only drawbacks, besides the seat, are poor fuel economy in town and towing, and the relatively extensive routine maintenance. On balance, compared to other cars and trucks Ive owned, it has been a good value. My wife likes it, so it would be nice to have two (the seat would last longer).

  • Impressed, so far - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I just bought this Hemi Limited a week ago and have put 1,700 miles on it so far. It is so much more comfortable than my 06 Tacoma Double Cab, I cant believe it. The interior is outstanding, with fit and finish very good, and very quiet. The power seats are extremely comfortable, and the Sirius radio with Boston Acoustics is great. I am taking it in to see if the dealership can take care of a rattle in the dash and wind noise around the drivers side back door. The hemi has unbeleivable response, gets reasonable mileage (17.5 mpg overall)and is a blast to drive. The quadra-trac II with limited slip front and rear is truly amazing. Im happy now, well see if I am a year from now.

  • Cant Find a Better Value in the Car Market Today! - 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Just leased my 2017 Trailhawk but Im in love. This is a very different vehicle for me. I had previously only driven BMW 3-Series (except for brief stint with Infiniti) but wanted to move into an SUV. Every time I open the door to my Jeep Im greeted with a level of luxury that you would find on a premium make. I opted for a loaded model with the Luxury and Active Safety Group. Both upgrades I would fully recommend. The Panoramic roof really brightens up the all black interior, while the LED DRL add an aggressive look. The adaptive cruise system is excellent. It can control your speed all the way down to a standstill but will only hold the brakes for about 3 seconds. Where it exceeds other systems on the market is following distance, it doesnt leave a huge gap in vehicles (allowing other drivers to cut in) at the closet setting. Making it actually functional in city traffic. Other active safety features include self-parking which works great once it locks onto a spot, as well as the lane keeping system, which subtlely nudges you back into your lane if drifting. The V6 is plenty of power in this car, especially after the 2016 upgrades. I average about 18mpg driving around (60% city/40% highway). My only complaint so far is in regard to the SRT seats included on the Trailhawk model. While the bolsters on the back piece are great, the bottom portion are a little tight. An adjustable bolster system similar to my old 328i would help. My only long term concern is reliability, an attribute FCA isnt known for, hence why I leased. Ill report back after put some more miles on.

  • It is the the Jeep you remembered - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The new Jeep 2005 style and ride has improved over the older style, however, its performance and reliability needs lots of help. The downshifting is very hard and noticeable. The vehicles shift module needed to be replaced at 16K miles. The blinker mechanism also broke. The brakes chatter. The gas gauge did not work after one week. The transmission leaked and it was recalled already. The dealership service is also terrible. I hope all the troubles are behind or this vehicle will be traded soon.

Overall, we like our Grand Cherokee. The car has a nice, though soft ride. It is great in the snow and is well built. Our only complaints we have are the gas mileage which averages around 11 around town. Most of the driving is around town with trip of approximately 3 - 5 miles. On a trip, we get approximately 21 babying the car. The heating and air conditioning are both excellent. It is a nice vehicle and we are pleased with it, though we will probably try another vehicle when the lease expires.
