Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

ok for in city - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Sarah - August 6 - 9:10 amI bought my Grand Cherokee when I was in college and thought the world of it. It has gotten me through some big snow storms -- I live in Minnesota, land of the cold and snow. One good thing so far is that I have not had to replace the battery and the Jeep is 7 years old, but I also have a block heater in it. I have been in 2 accidents with the Jeep, one I just nipped a car trying to do a tight parking, good thing -- not a scratch on the jeep; bad thing -- it did a lot of damage to the other car. The second accident was on the highway; busy one at that. The whole front of the Jeep had to be replaced. It was hit from the side too but the side didnt have a scratch on it.

1993 grand cherokee - 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By reber1 - August 5 - 12:07 pmbought mine new in 93 and now have 235,000 miles on it. In the life of the vehicle I have only replaced the fuel pump, water pump, and transmission lines. not bad at all for a vehicle of this age. Liked it so much I just purchased a 2011 GC Larado. I loved my old 93 so much I couldnt get rid of it. It now does winter plow duty. Still going strong!

Pleasures and flaws - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By chief46 - August 3 - 10:50 pmGreat highway ride and handling -- strong, quiet, smooth, precise. But there are some annoying flaws that should be fixed -- and hopefully these fixes will be offered to 2011 owners. First, someone forgot the "sport utility" part of SUV in designing the really lame roof rails. Even Yakima wont try a fit for them. I need to load two canoes, and will apparently have to spend hundreds on a new Thule system and then Dremel some plastic to get a decent crossbar spread. Second, the dial speedometer is almost totally useless in the daytime. Fortunately you can set up a digital speed readout in the center. Also, gap when rear seats down & no bumpers.

Dont buy a Diesel - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jodi - August 3 - 7:48 pmWe own at 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Diesel. I love the car it drives great when it drives. Thats the key point here. Its been serviced 14 times yes 14 and today as I write this its in again and now for 2 weeks the list is growing and now they found metal in the oil pan. We dont know what we can do. We bought it in MO and now live in CO. I truly love the car and the way it drives and the Diesel has been great on gas mileage we own a Dodge 2500 Diesel. But I cant handle all the endless trips to the dealership. It has stranded me 2x and almost caused a serious accident when the engine stopped going at 60mph. We filled a lemon claim but all we got was a letter back saying thank you for submitting. I sure hope no one else has to go through this nightmare.

Love love LOVE my JGC! - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By kkgirl - August 3 - 7:50 amThis is my second Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, a 2007 that we just bought new in 3/08. These are great vehicles. If you can do it, I highly recommend the Limiteds. They are luxurious but sporty. Im admittedly a gadget girl, so I love the little features--stereo controls behind the steering wheel, power memory seats and mirrors, leather interior, etc. The V8 drives like a dream, smooth but very quick. It is so fun to drive. Design is classic. A much "cooler" choice for this soccer mom than other options!

Problems Still Exist - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By AussieBuff - August 1 - 2:30 amOverall, the Jeep is beautiful! Plenty of power and it gets me where I want to go. Now, if Jeep would fix the brake problems and get that stupid clicking sound out of my steering column I would be happier. I still think I will take my business elsewhere for my next vehicle...GERMANY!

Its a truck! - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By contino - July 31 - 2:54 pmI have been a car car critic since I was 16, or 32 years...One thing I can tell you its very sharp, inside and out. Its great in the snow, fuel economy with the V 6 ok, the stereo system sounds good, but FM reception is not great, even with local stations. Whats not great: the ride is a not like a Toyota Highlander, Ford Explorer or Lincoln Aviator which I have owned, but its much better then a new Toyota 4 Runner. Steering is good under 65 mph, over that its not secure, its feels like a boat with many steering adjustments which gets frustrating after an hour of driving. Also, lane changes over 65 are very floaty. The worst thing is the seats, very hard and you feel the bumps.

Stalling - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By bigbearmo - July 31 - 7:23 amHave a strange problem with it, it occasionally stalls (engine shuts off) when coming to a full stop, its a 2007 GC Laredo with 4000 Miles on it. Took it to the dealership twice and they could not find anything wrong.
