Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

fix the air again and again - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Dave - February 6 - 10:43 pmHad to repair the air the first year I had it and the 2nd year and the third and 4th year. Warranty ended and I gave up on being cool because repairs only lasted one year. Had to replace water pump, radiater, cat converter and radio around 100,000. But she still looks good.

very poor design - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By richardp71 - February 3 - 12:38 amThe door handles are built into the whole inside panel, and they are brittle. so we have a 05 limited with the HEMI 5.8L 2 door handle have broken, 3rd on way out. and looking at 700+ per door. 99% of cars have the handle seperate, why the heck they choice this design i dont know, but its poorly done. there was talk they were going to recall this online, but to thi date they havent and refuse to help with this. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exhaust manifold was replace by previous owner as was A/C leak, several rubber joints in the suspension, had real seal on difference replaced ($50). In lin e6 has lots of power. Low gas mileage 13.2 mostly in town. Rides great, very comfirtable seats in front, kinda of small in back (typical mid-size anything).

Do Not BUY - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Notagain - February 2 - 10:00 amA reliability nightmare. Three fuel pumps have been replaced. Complete transmission overhaul @ 69,000K, heated seats do not work, brake problems, etc. etc. I should know better--had same problems on my 1999 which I just sold. Jeep can not build a reliable vehicle and Carmax is so busy because of all the needed repairs it takes two weeks to get an appointment so they can attempt repairs.

Best SUV out there - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Gnorm - January 31 - 3:00 pmFantastic SUV. I have tried many other SUVs and this one takes the take. With a Hemi Engine you can out accelerate ANY SUV and most cars. Smooth drive, nice interior, tons of options, fantastic quality. I recommed this to anyone looking for midsized SUVs. Unparalleled offroad ability and top of the line safety. Like all my friends said "All you need to know how to do is accelerate, brake, and hold the wheel"

Satisfaction - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By E. R. Jackson,jr - January 29 - 10:06 amThis is 3rd Jeep Grand Cherokee. Since they went to rack and pinion steering and softened the ride, my wife really likes it, and so do I. Should have kept the information readout on the overhead and not in the instrument cluster. There was more information on the 2003 model.

Great Investment! - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By cdubya87 - January 27 - 7:06 pmPurchased this car used in 1999 - had about 127,000 miles on it. Ive got 175,000 now and Im making the first major repair. Replaced the radiator last year, it was cheap and easy - this year it needs a new motor. Outside of that, Im a storm chaser and have had this poor Jeep at 100+mph on dirt back roads in heavy rains and hail and it is the most amazing vehicle Ive ever owned. I also have family through the state and have traveled frequently - great gas mileage, both city and highway and the comfort of this car is amazing. Its flexibility is great too - having added a laptop and some other components for my storm chasing. Just a great great car and Ill buy another and another!

No problem with Jeeps - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By smartjeeplady - January 27 - 8:16 amThe first Jeep I had was a 1995 year model had it for 7 years and the only thing that went out on it was the air conditioning. Traded it for a Chrysler Pacifica. Loved the car but 6 months later a 17 year old ran a stop sign and totaled it. That is when I bought the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and love it as much as the first one. I was taught to keep up maintenance on cars by my Dads example. I always go to our local Jeep dealer for maintenance. But I will say we bought the extended warranty because of the heavy use of the air conditioning system in Texas. My jeep is not 4WD but it performs well because of the 8 cylinder engine. We have had it for almost three years and still like it.

2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4X4Laredo 26X - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Sam G - January 27 - 12:50 amI love the way this Jeep handles, and looks inside and out. It is a blast to drive, I feel like a kid again. The V6 3.7L is fine for my driving criteria, however, if you plan on pulling big loads it ainÂ’t going to cut it, go with the V8. I have been averaging 12.7 around town and 20 on the highway. The front compartment is very comfortable. The back is average in the comfort department. I love the leather seats and all the other options that go along with the 26X pac
