Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Door harness quality!!! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Door harness done three times. Once @ 35,000 miles (warranty), at 70,000 miles ( They covered it although I didnt have a extended warranty ) and again at 117,000. I had to pay for this one at $780. Had ten problems resolved under the warranty within 36000 miles, including replacement of alumium wheels, rear seals as mentioned in various reviews and tape deck. Went through three sets of Goodyear original equipment tires in 75,000 miles, despite having the alienment done every 6000 miles. I love the car for the ride but the cost of maintaining leaves much to be desired.

Overall truck is good, great deal when bought with all the rebates. However truck needs more power if you have the V6, but if you get the V8 you pay for it in gas!

  • Jeep Needs Help - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

4 motor mounts (one per year), 1 cv joint, and at 135,000 4-speed automatic transmission quickly ground to a halt and cant be repaired. Ill never buy another Jeep product.

  • lemon is not my flavor - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

car was great until we hit 13000 miles. It was all down hill from here. The electrical system has been a continuing problem as well as the transmission, fuel injectors and cooling system. The car was in for service 7 times over a 9 month period, with no resolve. Safety was a major concern. Thank God for the pro- consumer lemon laws of Illinois that got our money back and lease terminated. Never again.

  • Got What I Paid For - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I purchased my 2003 Jeep Cherokee Laredo on Feburary 14, 2003. Fell in love with the comfort and the space that it gave me. The only one shocker was the gas mileage. Being a student that doesnt live on campus will make your wallet shrink! Other than that, I love my new Jeep and cannot wait until it gets warm enough to try it out on the beach!

  • Life after Land Rovers - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Have had 3 Land Rovers (2 Disco, 1 LR3) Had almost bought a Commander before the last Land Rover. I couldnt pass up on the deals this time. Need power to pull my 22 boat and the Hemi makes you forget the boat is still there. The leather is nice, but the plastics in the interior are not as nice as Land Rover. My kids both have the old Cherokees (1999 & 2000) and still love them.

  • Excellent vehicle - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I have owned earlier models of this vehicle, 96 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 2003 Grand Cherokee Overland and it is hard to believe how much my 2005 has improved just over the 2003; ride, handling and of course performance. The gas mileage is good -- 17 average locally with a lot of stop and go driving, mostly trips of 10 miles or less. I have been very pleased with it.

  • Great Jeep - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

My Jeep has a substantial amount of power, and it has more acceleration than my other previous vehicles. Its compact design makes it easy to fit into parking spots, and has excellent handling on bad roads due to its all-time 4X4. It also offers a smooth ride, and good gas mileage.

I hate to express negative reviews on products cause its dissapointing but I Bought this vehicle & loved it for about 4 weeks. Then it was one problem after another! Sensors Going Mad, Transmission got sluggish & slow 2 react. Not 2 say scared since the TV News Report on how dangerous these vehicles are considering the transmissions have taken off on several buyers!!Read all the reviews on the new Jeep styles since 2005 before you spend your money!! You will see they are Horrible.I got so irritated w/ spending so much time in a Servive Dept that I got all my money back & bought a new Honda Accord & I Love It! I learned one thing.. Just purchase our Jeep G. Cherokee after driving a J. Cherokee Classic 2000 for about 7 years. Very nice upgrade and lot of interior room compare to our old Jeep. We are very happy and so far so good in gas mileage.
