Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Just turned 15 yrs old and 200,000 miles! - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Beelzebubba - August 26 - 5:46 amMy parents bought it new in December 1994 and it just passed the 200k mark! It has been far more reliable than anything else weve ever owned. My mom drove it for nine years, then my dad for the next four years after that. They gave it to me over two years ago to use a second vehicle. Still runs and drives like a champ!

Poor Reliability - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By DisappointedinOregon - August 25 - 10:00 amWe were very happy when we bought the car. It was 3 years old and had only 43,000 miles. It now has 90,000 miles and sitting in our driveway because we dont want to spend the money to fix the myriad of problems with it. We have had the air conditioner fixed multiple times and it isnt working again. The front end is shot, it has a cracked manifold and has a leaking head gasket. It would cost more to fix than its "blue book" value. Theres just too much wrong for a car with only 90,000 miles on it.

Good Enough - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jesse - August 25 - 7:30 amI bought this Jeep with 98000 miles on it. At first I was skeptical to say the least. I was wrong. It is slightly under powered but I think that is solved with the v8. I use this Jeep as a work vehicle and my only complaint is that it wont hold all my tools. I am impressed.

95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Joe - August 23 - 11:00 amPurchased used with 60K+. Mileage now is 106k. It seemed after the 100k. it was one thing after another. However most was minor. The one major problem that I had was violent shaking and bouncing and the worst part was when I took it in, the problem could not be replicated. Finally a local mechanic put an off road steering dampener on! Problem solved. Before this the dealership replaced; stock steering dampener, front shocks and a motor mount. So if your having that shimmy SHAKE SHAKE... off road steering dampener.

Chrysler Sucks - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Bad Brakes - August 23 - 10:00 amAfter 10k miles started having front brake pulsations. Took to dealer for repair. They turned the rotors. After 5k miles same problem. DIDO. Mechanic said that rotor was at tolerence limit and could not be turned again. I asked to replace the rotors. Chrysler would not authorize that. On 5/13/02 Chrysler service bulletin #0500302 says that for this problem, replace rotors, calipers and pads on all 1999-2002 GCs. It took Chrysler 3 years to admit they had bad parts and would not replace them. I called Chrysler to have the repair done. They said--sorry Charlie, that is a ware part and nothing can be done. THEY NEVER FIXED IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!

great 4 x 4 - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By reber1 - August 22 - 11:01 pmBought my new jeep because I wanted a vehicle to match my lifestyle. It replaced my 93 GC. I liked it so mutch i had to have a new one. So far at 19,000 miles i am impressed. It has impressive power (5.7 Hemi), awsome off-road ability, and handles pavement like a sedan. To date no issues what so ever. I would suggest though if you drive a lot on gravel get the optional mudflaps. I am not a mudflap fan, but due to the flare of the rear doors and fender wells they will catch a lot of debris with out them.

Cannot recommend because of reliability problems - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By eugenet - August 22 - 1:09 pmRides and handles well. High quality interior. New Pentastar V6 is reasonably peppy and fuel efficient. On the other hand... Many unresolved quality control problems and Chrysler/Jeep has been stonewalling us.

Bad Gas Mileage 3.7l v6 - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ted - August 22 - 12:50 amPurchased This jeep off a lease with with 24k on it was hoping to get at least 18 to 20 mpg on the highway, best Ive gotten is 16.9 average and now it has dropped to 14.7 mpg, also wouldnt shift into reverse right away sometimes. Dealer said it was some kind of faulty shift mod, and supposedly replaced but it still acting up, Just had it in for oil change and noticed the transmission pan was all wet with fluid but we couldnt tell exactly where it was coming from maybe a bead seal on the pan, I have my eye on it. overall I love to drive the jeep.

My First Jeep - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Bill - August 21 - 7:58 amThe appearance and the quality construction are excellent. The ride is smooth and quiet. The entertainment center is extremely user friendly and has a myriad of options. I had a Hyundia Santa Fe Limited and it was nice, but nothing like the quality of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. So far I am extremely happy with my Jeep.

Hey they arnt so bad... - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By JamiePfef - August 18 - 3:03 amWell this was my first car that I paid for myself. Im currently 19 and have had my Jeep for something like almost 2 years. Its the bright red Laredo that I pretty much see everywhere! I love the look of it, its very sporty. I bought it from a credible Dodge dealer near me and it had around 80,000 miles on it. I got it for a little over $7,000. It was in perfect condition, everything was working fine. So far I have replaced my water pump and thats pretty much it. My rear parking brake broke off randomly and was clanking around in my wheel, got that taken care of but never fixed my parking brake. So it hasnt been too bad for me.
