Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

someone is going to be seriously injured - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By spiker69 - September 21 - 12:00 amI bought this jeep with only 12,000 km on it,after owning a 1999 jeep cherokee sport before this one I didnt think that I would regret making this purchase. This vehicle has a mind of its own and decides itself when it wants to accelerate and when it doesnt, I dont want to take any chances when pulling onto a major highway as I never know if it is going to go or not! After seeing all the reviews of people with the same problems Im wondering how seriously someone is going to have to be injured before Chrysler recalls!I bought this vehicle because I have a family but I dont want to even take my son in it! This jeep has turned me off chrysler products definitely look elsewhere for reliability

Love this car! - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By rebecca - September 18 - 10:20 amI bought this new and used to drive it 2 hours back and forth to work. It made the wretched commute tolerable. Now, I use it for my dog car. With 103K miles on it, the extended warranty has expired and that makes me nervous. So Im thinking about selling it. It has been very reliable, and the repairs that were necessary were covered under the warranty. I highly recommend Grand Cherokees - this is my second one.

Nothing But Problems - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By spunkysmr - September 17 - 10:00 amI have had my 2001 Cherokee since Dec 2001. I have replaced the rotors 4 times. The ignition also died at 40K miles and had to be replaced. Overall it has been in the shop 13 times for mechanical problems. Engine also has problems starting when it rains. ALthough the dealer cant find the problem. Also the back seats flip up when you stop quickly. Very nice when you have a small child seat belted in the backseat. Also the dealer we bought this from does not stand behind their cars at all.

Happy with the Jeep - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Randy - September 15 - 5:53 pmRecently sold my Lexus GX470 to buy the GGC Limited (had to cut back due to having a 1972 Bimmer restored). I was really planning to buy an Infiniti QX4, but a Jeep on a lot caught my eye. never thought I would buy a Jeep after hearing negative stories. Very happy so far. Not the ride of the Lexus, but I actually enjoy the more rugged feel and the V8 Throaty engine. Pleasantly surprised at the quality of interior and the overall experience.

Brake rotors - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By RSCoyner - September 15 - 4:00 amThis was my first effort to return to a traditional "American" car after 30 years of buying foreign. I had read that the reliability of "American" cars had improved significantly and nearly equaled that of Japanese. My Jeep evidenced good quality and reliability until it reached 10,000 miles. It then developed problems, such as the need to repair the brake rotors. This was a common problem at this mileage level with older Jeeps, but I thought it had been remedied. Chrysler/Jeep previously warranted them for 3 yrs/36,000 mi. Now apparently the warranty expires at 1 yr/12,000 mi, leaving the consumer with some expensive repairs every 10,000-12,000 miles.

Grand Cherokee is Just That - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Dan Albanese - September 14 - 3:23 pmI purchased the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and absolutely love it. From the powerful V-8 to the plush leather this vehicle exudes class with a backbone. The lines are a lot sleeker than its predecessor and with the chrome trim Ill put it up against any other SUV in a beauty contest. The ride is quiet and with its new suspension system unique to the 05 model, it handles better than most sedans. The only negative is that its very thirsty. Dont believe the sticker, it gets 15 MPG on average. 13 city, 17 highway. Other than that, this is the sleekest, best looking, capable, functional, and powerful vehicle I have ever owned and highly recommend it to anyone.

Its OK - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Texas Driver - September 12 - 11:13 pmI bought my Cherokee because of the smooth ride and reputation of Jeep. My Cherokee has been very dependable but it has been in the shop once to have the "O" ring replaced. The comfort inside the vehicle is nice and roomy for front row passengers only. The bad things are the many blind spots, the front windhield seems small to me as I have to duck down my head a little to see stoplights, no back leg room if both front seats are moved all the way back and the Gas mileage seems poor. I average 15 mpg city/18hwy. The seat belts also dont seem long enough if you have a belly. This vehicle is not for tall or heavy set people as you will the same things to be bothersome.
