Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

2nd Jeep 05 and 06 - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By bill james - October 8 - 9:30 pmMy 2005 was a lemon. I was given a $5000 settlement from Jeep. The transmission kept blowing pumps and it had a vibration even after the recall on the torque converter, 3 converters and a transmission rebuild. I took the money and traded it in on a 06. So far the 06 does not have the problems the 05 had, but on the 05 it started with 16,000 miles. In the first 6,000 miles on this Jeep it has been fine. Jeep sales depreciates pretty quickly due to many of the incentives and a lot of Jeeps at the auctions that come off lease ruin the market. So if youÂ’re buying a Jeep make sure you arent in a hurry to sell, just run it into the ground.

Chrysler is no help - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By kselle - October 7 - 10:00 amThe Jeep is great with the exception of the brakes. With only 22,000 miles on it the brake rotors warped. Chrysler has had a huge problem with this in the past but would offer me no assistance. This will be my last Chrysler product. I refuse to buy from a company that will not stand behind thier product.

Cant wait for winter! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Pondz - October 7 - 10:00 amI just purchased an 04 SE. I traded in my Pathfinder (Ive owned 2 now). I absolutely LOVE my Jeep. Its performed perfectly. I agree that the gas mileage is a bit low, but no worse than my Pathfinders. The Jeep is much more luxurious and has lots more power. Im really enjoying my Jeep and am looking forward to the first snow!

Rough riding Laredo Grand Cherokee - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By DONALD GOLD - October 6 - 4:43 pmBought this Jeep used. So far no serious problems, v8 is great specially in mtns. Lots of pick up and go. I am 75 years old and I find riding in back seat is very uncomfortable. I was thinking about changing shocks. Perhaps some type of air shock to add to comfort of riding. Materials used for seats is horrible, stains easily, even when my dog drools a little, it will stain, water does also. I had them cleaned with steam clean and really worked, try it. I have fellow that does it for me. I wish it would ride more comfortably.

Dont do it...run - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By lwk1019 - October 5 - 5:33 amBuying any Jeep GC? - reconsider and run the other way. Me, I/ve owned 3 of them - every year the engineers figure out how to make them cheaper. 1993, 1998, 2000 have finally learned my lesson. They are oh so beautiful but what a mechanical nightmare. Yea, yea, yea I know all about maintaining them - simply junk, mopar junk. The paint is world class and thats it folks.

yes - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By nipper - October 4 - 7:56 pmThis has been a great vehicle, yes the gas mileage is not great but you are driving a real vehicle that runs on regular. Its not a bmw but then again as a half truck, suv and luxury car it is not a bad mix. Today I haul firewood, next the family. No problem

Too much value for the $ to pass up... - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By NewJeeper - October 3 - 4:50 amI recently bought the Laredo and have been putting it through the paces. Its a very nice and smooth ride despite the tires (I prefer Michelins to Goodyear). I like the R&P steering too. As a high performance sports car owner I love the electronic shifter. By manually shifting the 3.7 it maximizes its capability and makes it perform near or better than the V8s automatic "OD" shift setting. Speaking of the transmission, the recall work has been done on my new vehicle. The reengineering to correct the AC condensation drip into the transmission looks like a nice fix if anyone was concerned and thinking about ruling out this vehicle for that reason.

Fluke or Flaw? - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By konigstiger - September 26 - 11:07 pmBought brand new on April 5. While driving home, Service Air Suspension System Immediately light went on. Returned it, it was fixed, on way home it again went off, and kept going off, sometimes 3-4 cycles worth. Back to dealership. When dropped off, had 1060mi on it, 360 of which were spent back and forth for repairs. They have had the Area Tech look at it, and also gotten the Engineering & Parts Development Depts involved, as well as the company that designed the suspension system. No luck, Has been there a combined 3 weeks for same problem. Beware: When Jeep has problem, it becomes yours too. Case is now in hands of settlement team, but nothing is moving forward. Can you say lemon?
