Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

I LOVE MY JEEP! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By cclark10105 - February 16 - 11:46 pmThe Jeep was the only thing on the dealers lot that appealed to me. I went in looking to purchase a new car and feel in love with the used jeep! It has never left me any where and runs great plus I love the way it looks. The inside is a little plain and simple but over all its an awesome car. I feel safe in it. The only down fall is the gas mileage but that is the price you pay driving as SUV! All-in-all I am a very satisfied Jeep owner and dont see myself ever purchasing anything other that a jeep.

First Time - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By James Seay - February 15 - 6:33 pmAfter owning an Expedition, a few Tahoes, Range Rover and an Infiniti FX45, I settled on a Jeep as my next SUV. Frankly, the huge factory incentives were a big part of my decision. Great job on the part of Jeep, because I really like this truck. Excellent lines, great interior setup and controls, love the Hemi, Navigation system and the reliability and dealer service has been better than I expected.

Over Torqued Tranny for In-line 6 Cyl? - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Drive For 5 - February 13 - 2:00 amBought my 96 Grand Cherokee Laredo from my folks in April 01. The SUV drives itself about 8 mph without hitting the accelerator. It constantly bangs in gear, especially reverse. It has had these problems since day 1 and the dealership told my folks that its "normal". Im worried, especially since it has only 57,XXX miles on it. I am considering upgrading to a full size SUV for my family. Drivers seat feels tight. Rear seat room is also tight. The childs car seat takes up most of the space. 4.0 In-line six cyl is adequate at best, wish I had the V8. Sluggish acceleration.

Great SUV - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By GolfNut - February 13 - 2:00 amMy Limited has been a pleasure to own. The brake problem is the only dissappointment. Chrysler should take responsibility for their poor brake design. Other than the brakes the vehicle has been totally trouble free.

Jeep has stepped it up - 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jeremy Bevans - February 12 - 12:50 amHonestly I had never considered a Jeep when I started my search, nor did I realize the following that Jeep brand has. Im a young-ish guy, hit my early thirties and decided that I wanted to finally trade in the Murano SL Id been driving for 7 years and upgrade to a moderate "luxury" vehicle as a reward to myself for hard work. I started with looking at the usual... BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, etc. Then I decided to broaden my search to include the $35,000 - $45,000 range for new and used. Thats when I came across the Jeep GC Overland and Summit models. As I looked over the features, every one of the features that I found so appealing of luxury vehicles was built into this thing. Im a tech-person, so the touch screen, digital display in the drivers hub, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot warnings, reverse cross traffic warnings, ventilated / heated seats, powered lift gate... Seriously the list goes on... When I discovered all of these in a vehicle for at least $10,000 to $15000 less than the other brands I had looked at, I could no longer justify spending >$60,000 for the base model of stereotypical "luxury" brands. The test drive is what sealed the deal. Smooth with just the right amount of power. Love it. The only issue Ive had in 2 months is a small rattle that was coming from a loose engine cradle mount of some sort. Took it back and they fixed it in a couple hours. I havent joined the cult yet, but I can see why so many people stick with Jeep. I hope it holds up.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4 - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By AJ - February 11 - 11:16 amBought this 4X4 Jeep in 2005 with 55,000 miles. Loved it when I bought it but started having problems about 6 months later. Had to replace output speed sensor, water pump, security sensor, door lock actuators, door checks, cvt boots, radiator sensor all under 75,000 miles. Gas mileage is terrible for a 6 cylinder averaging about 13 mpg. AC is ice cold and heat works very well and quick. Loved the outside temperature gauge with compass, average mpg, and fuel range. Very comfortable and roomy and fun to drive. Just sold it with 85,000 miles. Good fun vehicle if you have a warranty and dont have to worry about these problems.

Jeep grand repairs - 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By D Easley - February 7 - 10:06 amBought mine from one owner used. Had just over 100000. Since January 2015-Oct 2015 have replaced the clock speed sensor, the starter, wheel bearing, now the transmission is starting to slip. Chrysler jacked up the jeep name. Used to be a dependable vehicle. Stay far away from this vehicle.

Solid vehicle, happy with my choices - 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By xsmojo - February 7 - 4:37 amI had a 2012 4x4 v8 for a year and it was great overall. The cons: MPG not so good, the Nav system is difficult. I have since fixed part of this by trading for a 2013 v6. Now the MPG is better. The power is acceptable too, I was surprised. I recall the 2011 v6 seemed to lag but mine has done this. Now if we can just get the newer Nav from the 300 it will be a great vehicle package.

MORE TROUBLE THAN ITS WORTH! - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jpgrl - February 7 - 2:00 amIve had nothing but trouble with rotors, and axle repairs. Jeep refuses to fix these problems and see them as defects. I have had rotors replace 2x and rear and front axle work!! It was a lemon from the get go and they didnt do anything. The first 2 rotor(both done at less than 12,000 miles!) repairs were covered under warranty along with the rear differential work. More recently i had new rotors(again!) and a front axle job!! Please save your money and buy something other than a gr cherokee!! Save yourself the time, money and stress!!
