Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

JEEP is a piece of junk - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By gbyt - January 10 - 10:00 amI purchased a 6 cyl 4WD JGC Laredo last year - I sold it with 17,500 miles on it. Nothing but problems, front brake rotors had to be resurfaced twice, fuel pump had to be replaced, passenger electric window motor went out, etc... Serious defects with a vehicle that cost $28,000. I also have a toyota tacoma - the exception being that this vehicle has 152,000 miles on it and still going strong. Until Jeep fixes these quality defects - I would be very hesitant when buying another Jeep vehicle - just talk with others who have owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Disappointed - 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By debbie061 - January 6 - 2:12 pmI bought a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2009 with 4 miles on it. Everything was going fine the first year, now that Im into my second year with 30,000 miles on it, my Jeep has been in the shop every month. First it was an ERG valve then an ABS sensor, the following month my drain tubes from the moon roof were clogged and one day driving down the road I put on the brakes and water poured out of my overhead lights. But wait I just got back from the dealer having my blower motor replaced. Thank goodness all were covered under factory warranty, but 2000 miles left and its my problem and the dealer wants me to trade it in for a 2011 Compass. I think Im done with Jeeps, maybe Ill try a Honda CRV

Stay away from the 1999 JGC - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jedisean - January 6 - 12:10 pmThe power train is great. Everything else stinks. The first week I had it, I had it in the shop 4 times. Service is poor and in the 3 years I have had it, I have had it in the shop 30 times. Anything from the brakes (twice) to the sunroof. Do not buy. The problems were fixed in 2000, but I would not take that chance again.

Proud Owner - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Fishy - January 5 - 2:00 amMy wife and I are orig owners and after 10 yrs and dispite some expensive repairs we still love it. Only problem prior to 100k was the brakes front and back which have always been a problem, and the water pump. Replace the composite rotors with solid. I run this truck hard, tow a boat go 4 wheeling (beach, mud,+)and the 5.2 still runs good at 173k. At 100k the expense began; QuadraTrac tranfer case rebuild, rear diff. rebuild, trans rebuild and just blew out both rear brake cylinders. Like I said I run it very hard, and still love it!

Grand Cherokee Value! - 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Andrew Holtgrieve - January 3 - 1:32 pmBought a 16, not a 15, because of similarity of vehicles, and better pricing and financing. My testament to the vehicle is that it replaces a nearly identical 2011 one we really enjoyed!

Jeep Grand Cherokee - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Joe M. - January 2 - 3:23 pmThe JGC is more than I expected from an American made vehicle. Standard features include all that one would expect from a high priced luxury vehicle. The leather upgrade package and all that it includes was worth the extra money. If you like the bells and whistles, you will love the 2008 Jeep.

Love my Jeep - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Texas Dan - January 1 - 12:46 amMy first Jeep was a CJ5. Big difference between the two of them. I loved the 5 for its ability to climb and maneuver in tight places. I love this one for its comfort creatures.

2nd Time Around the Block - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By iamwhoam - December 31 - 10:00 amI had a 2000 JGC Laredo V8 that I really liked, but rotors warped. Bought this Jeep Limited HO V8 early 2003 and have put 35000 miles on in 16 mnths. No front rotor warping like the last Jeep, tracks great, stable through high speed turns as long as you keep a constant turn. Try to "saw" your way through turn and you will upset your balance. Slight harsh shift from occasionally. Maybe a small back seat, not a huge cargo area. But way shorter and more easier to drive than a recent Trailblazer rental. I think the interior styling is still attractive, and open. Resales not the greatest it seems, but I love it so much I may keep. Go with V8 HO!
