Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

reliability - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By 3rd jeep - January 24 - 10:00 amthis is my 4th jeep. ive had a 92 cherokee, a 98 grand cherokee and a 99 grand cherokee. the performance seems very weak and my 99 has more pickup on road than this car. the interior design and features are nice however. i have had a gasket problem since ive had it and over the 5 years ive had my 99, ive had to take it in serveral times for air conditioning problems and transmission slippage

Its got a Hemi - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Hemi Guy - January 24 - 2:43 amOwn a 00 Mountaineer with V8, drove a new Explorer, Tribeca & Murano. Jeep & Murano are very close in comfort & performance. Jeep offered 0% financing. Jeep won. Hemi is great! Never believe the mileage figure on the sticker. All SUVs and crossovers in this class get close to the same mileage. I did a lot of research of cars in this class. Test drove a lot. Spent a little more than I had planned but I feel it will be worth it. Read the reviews by Car & Driver, Edmunds, etc. 06 is coming out on top. Get the HEMI - really a blast to drive.

Buyer Beware - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Ryan - January 21 - 10:45 pmChrysler should be ashamed of fielding such poor quality. I purchased my GC less than two years ago, and have already had it in the shop multiple times, where the service experience was abysmal. It took over a month for the dealer to get a replacement shock into the shop after the OEM version started leaking at 25K. After that shock was finally replaced, the replacement shock then started leaking again a month later. On another occassion the service shop couldnt perform a simple oil change and I had oil leak all over the engine compartment. No compensation offered from the dealer. Now the air conditioner smells musty, which through a little research appears to be a design flaw that allows water to collect deep in the AC system, and the brakes started sqeaking.

2014 Grand Cherokee Multiple Issues - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By yeloiron - January 21 - 1:09 pmI purchased a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland in October 2013. Ive driven 39k miles on California highways since the purchase. The problems began before I got home and have continued to grow plague the vehicle. My first issue was the loud clunk in the rear end during acceleration from a dead stop and repeating during deceleration. The transmission fails to find the right gear either from a dead stop of while passing which is a major safety issue. Driver seat squeaks during movement. The sunroof rattles, the radio/Bluetooth works sometimes and water gets into the fuel filler cap during a car wash. The dealers answer is always a re-boot. I plan to trade it in over the holidays. Poor quality.

Better than a Ford! - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By rick shauvin - January 19 - 11:20 pmHave had the rig about a month. Traded in a Ford F150 Crew Cab which I hated from the day I drove it home. Jeep is fantastic in almost every aspect except fuel economy around town. Plenty of power and handles like a dream in the snow and ice. Great seat heaters. Great sound system. Turns on a dime. Got the inferno red which generates lots of compliments. Worth the $200 extra. Very quiet ride. Puny cargo space.

Fool Andy - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Andy - January 19 - 11:06 pmI bought this car because I like the look and feel. Ignoring warning from consumer review about quality problem, I bought the car. I had my Jeep 11 months. Bring the car to the shop 15 times to fix transmission problem and some engine light. The car is still under warranty but the problem was never fixed. Chrysler almost seems to not care. Fed up with it, I traded in the car with a 30% loss.

Gas Pumps become tourist destinations - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mechem - January 18 - 3:53 amFirst off, we bought this car brand new and drove it to the grave (totaled in an accident). So with that said, I feel now that its gone I can write this. The car ran perfectly to 100k. Never had a single mechanical error other than the AC failing 2 times. Car was fun to drive, could go anywhere. But it was slower than molasses. The V6 just simply didnt move the car. The gas mileage stunk. I averaged 13 city 15 highway. Still though I had a lot of great times in the car, and really nothing much went wrong. If gas ever drops in price I would get another.

Long lasting V-6 - 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By saccnga - January 17 - 10:00 amI purchased this vehicle with 40k on it and now have 158k. It has been a reliable vehicle with good safety features for a car made in 93 (air bag, brakes). The interior has held up very well and it still handles like a new one. It is noisy inside especially during gear shifting at lower speeds. Overall it is a tough vehicle.
