Have owned 2 previous Jeeps with no problems. Purchased top of the line hemi limited 4X4 quadradrive; have become very disappointed. Quadradrive system has design problem. Bad vibration between 70 and 80 MPH. Had tires balanced, Drive shaft replaced. still have same problem. Dealer and company refuse to repair. (Cant test above the area speed limit so we wont cover or repair) performance vehicles? They do not back their cars. Chrysler customer care people are rude. Do not buy one! Mileage on Hemi is bad 10.6 in city, 15 on highway at best even after break in. Read Edmunds forums before purchasing any year Grand Cherokee. Jeeps are not Jeeps any more. Bring back my old Cherokee.

This is my first Jeep. Last car was a 2003 Explorer, Eddie Bauer with V8 and all options. My new Jeep has every available factory option. Paid $36,901 inclusive of $3,500 factory rebates. This is almost identical to the price I paid in 2003 for my Explorer. Overall, I am impressed. Looked at a bunch of SUVs in this range, and Jeep was by far the best deal. Love the power, but getting 16 mpg overall. Love the slick shifter - works very well in mountain driving. Car is pretty comfortable, but not up to MDX type standards. Better ride (not as harsh) than the Explorer. Overall I would recommend this car.

With the Hemi and cruise control you can achieve around 17.9 mpg. Not bad for an engine with this much power. The engine does use 5w-20 oil though. Not a common gas station item. The ride however is excellent. Test drive one. The only concern is this is the first year of its production. Good luck, and happy hunting.

Ive owned many brands of fine cars and only one other SUV, which happened to be a Chevy Blazer. I thought I couldnt do much better for options and comfort. But when I got my Jeep and compared comfort and styling, I was pleasantly pleased with the total package of the vehicle. I am thoroughly enjoying my new ride.

I now have 35,000 miles on this Jeep. It gets 17 miles to the gallon on the highway, 15 in the city. Just towed my 20 ft Bayliner to south Florida. It got 14.7 miles to the gallon and I didnt even know it was there. The truck handles great on the road and there are no rattles when on the bad washed out roads. the v8 motor has more power than Chevys or Fords . This is the best truck I have ever owned!

I have only had my Jeep for 3 months but compared to my 2002 Jeep (which I also like) the 2005 is a great improvement.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a wonderful all around vehicle with luxury and usefulness. You can seat 5 or more comfortably. It is great for road trips and also serves as vehicle to move items. The luxury of the Grand Cherokee Limited is by far a huge plus with heated seats, 10 CD disc changer, awesome sound system, and a memory chip to remember two different drivers seat, radio, and mirror settings. The Jeep is also a very safe feeling vehicle which was a number one priority when buying after I flipped a Toyota T-100 3 times on highway 280 in San Francisco. The Grand Cherokee brings together safety, usefulness, luxury, affordability, style, and dependability all under one roof.

Ive owned a total of 3 jeeps and I love them all dearly. I bought my 05 Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7 4x4 about a year ago and Im still quite happy with my decision. The 4.7 has all the power I need and is surprisingly good on gas for a V8 (depending on your driving habits). I average about 14 city 21 highway. The Quadratrac 4x4 system is a beast in the snow, even better than my XJ or Ranger were. It has more than enough features. The brakes and suspension are both good -it rides pretty nice. Im also a big fan of the aesthetics of the vehicle, the color scheme and design is tastefully done. If I had to nitpick it would have to be about the door panels. I would prefer more padding and I had to replace one of the door handles. Also had an issue with some leaking from the sunroof due to an issue with the drainage system. I got that all squared away though, ultimately no big deal. Really nice vehicle overall.

I do not own this vehicle, it is my mothers. However, I do get plenty of seat time behind the wheel, so heres my personal experience. After owning a late model XJ Cherokee for over a decade, my parents picked up this 2005 WK Grand Cherokee almost 5 years ago. I believe it is the Rocky Mountain trim? Not 100% sure, but it is not a Limited model. It has the 4.7 8-cylinder, Quadra-Trac 4x4, two-tone grey leather, sunroof, heated seats, and thats about it on options. It now has almost 154K and it was bought with about 64K. It has generally been a very reliable rig in the almost 5 years of ownership. The 4.7 has been pretty much bulletproof. It runs great, its pretty quiet, and it sounds damn mean if you lay into it. Not a Hemi by any means, but it and the 5-speed makes for a worthy power-train. With the exception of a new water pump installed and some electrical gremlins resolved at approximately 135K, and a 90K tune-up, oil changes have otherwise been the only maintenance performed. In the beginning of ownership, we did had issues with the vehicle stalling when youre coming to a stop. The dealer couldnt figure out the cause of this either. But, we found that if you run mid-grade gasoline, the stalling doesnt stop completely, but it stalls a whole lot less often, and it even seems to run a little better. It has never stalled on me personally. One more thing of note, the key fobs are not made very well. Both original keys fell apart maybe two years ago. Aftermarket fobs do not last long either, so buy new ones from a dealer the first time. Also, I believe that the TPMS sensor is going bad. Even with all tires filled to recommended specs, the sensor will beep and the light will flash at start-up, and then will flash every so often while youre driving. Not a huge issue really. Quadra-Trac has been flawless. Its a Jeep, after all. Mileage is so-so, its gotten no more than 19mpg on the highway, and it seems to average between 15-17. Interior wise, it has all held up pretty well. The driver seat has a tear (there when bought), and the climate controls on the dash have never illuminated the whole time weve had it. Not sure if this is a common issue with the WK models, but it can be a pain in the rear to make changes when driving at night. Other than those two things, the interior has again been pretty solid. No leaks from the sunroof, and the heated seats get real nice and warm. Overall, the Jeep has been a good reliable SUV. Being the first year of this body style, it has had its little issues and quirks. Definitely pick up a 2008-10 if you can find one. I believe the 4.7 for those years received a significant bump in power and a small gain in efficiency, and there are a few details inside and outside that I think dress up the vehicle a bit. But the 2005-07 models wont leave you regretting your purchase by any means. If I didnt need to have a truck, I would not hesitate to daily one of these.

  • Great Rig for the Money! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

With two kids in car seats the extra width of this vehicle has been a blessing. We actually have enough room to fit a real human being in between the car seats, making this a true 5 passenger vehicle. Great visibility, comfortable seats, plenty of power, and a sticker price that is well below market value, makes this a good family vehicle. Why spend $10k more for a 4Runner when you can have more power, nicer features, and a better look.
