The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  I bought this vehicle new and have loved every day of it. If your main concern is great gas mileage you dont need an SUV, but if you want to do any off roading you want a Jeep. On road manners are great and it is a lot of fun to drive. I have the 4.0 I6 which is nothing but reliable. Select Trac will go anywhere. If you are reading this you are probably looking for a used vehicle. Dont be afraid of these. Hints: Look for one with the 7/70 powertrain warranty remaining. Also, service can be okay or a nightmare depending on the dealership.

  I bought this Jeep a little over 2 years ago and i absolutely love it! I love the ride and the way it handles and the build quality is pretty good. The only things I dont like about it is the gas mileage (average about 15 combined) and the front speakers have always been a little fuzzy. The low tire pressure gauge is a little too touchy also.

  I traded in a 95 Impala for a 4 wheel drive GC. Although I had to get use to the tipping (while turning as you get with all SUVs)I find the ride every bit as smooth.

  This is the best car ive ever owned. Ive driven across the country and didnt stop for 1 mechanical thing. I only filled up gas. It has 326,000 miles on it and it runs like a charm. The engine is in perfect condition. If you keep up with our check ups, the car will run great. Buy a Jeep and keep it for a while, it will last.

  Disappointed - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

  very good exterior design but not high quality materials : leather seats showed quickly as "used" for example. Car not stable in turns, even at 25mph, my kids complain of being pushed to the sides when I turn. Greatly disappointed as I expected more in terms of quality. Had to replacve brakes/rotors twice in 2 years.

  Love it - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

  This is my 3rd Jeep. "89 Cherokee 4.0L- great vehicle/99 GC LTD. 4.7L-just OK/"05 GC LTD. 5.7L Hemi is wonderful vehicle. My wife and I take several 600+ mile trips per year and wouldnt think of driving anything else. Just replaced tires and brakes after 47000 miles and have had no other quality or repair issues. Took a vacation with another couple and fit all luggage and golf bags in storage area. My friend begged to drive after first time at the wheel. My other vehicle is a 04 300M and that car has been grat as well. I will have no problem purchasing another Chrysler product.

  Idle problems - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

  I purchased this jeep and immediately had a problem with the idle dropping to 400 RPM. I took it back to the dealer and they changed some computer module and gave it back. It wasnt a day and the problem returned, I took it back to the dealer and they said that it seemed to be that way on all the special editions because evey one they had was doing the same thing. Any help for a solution is appreciated.

  I just purchased my Jeep and i have nothing to complain about. I love everything about it, and all you people complaining about fuel mileage need to get the 4X2, way better on fuel, and handles great in snowy conditions.

  My First was a 1994 SE model, just the base model I honestly drove it until it fell apart, "Lil RED MULE" had a tough life!!! I had to junk it and cried like a baby to see her go!!! but with 450,725 miles and only one repair job for $159.52 you cant beat that with a stick. I am having the same great luck with my new jeep, I will not buy any thing else!The average mileage my family gets at trade-in on their Cherokees is 280,000 miles.And just to let you know These vehicles are built for safety, ask my in-laws who hit a 1700 pound cow one night and walked away with out a scratch even though the vehicle was totalled!
