Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

I LOVE MY JEEP! - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By JeepMom - March 23 - 2:00 amThe jeep had 56K miles on it when I bought it. It has been a great vehicle. It now has 163K miles and has never left me stranded. The only repairs have been to replace the front wheel bearings at about 130K miles and again at 161K miles My daughter has a 93 Cherokee Sport and that is what inspired me to buy a Jeep. I just bought a 1999 Jeep Grand and I most likely will continue to stay in the Jeep family.

Finally Give Up - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jeep24Rnr - March 21 - 10:00 am82000 miles. Since new have replaced: rear axel vent (twice); PW motor; Intake MANIFOLD gasket; Tranny Cooler line (leak); Peeling dr panels; leaky AC Accumulator line; Wtr Pump; Oil Sensor Sending unit (twice); CV boots; Now tranny starts slipping due to bad clutch seal(wanted to fix) but transfer case starts to leak. Had eeeeeenough! traded in for a 4runner. Did rigorous maintenance, all by my self except tran fluid including wtr pump. Overall, I see DC has a good product design team, but there is no body puting the product together, and had zero quality control. "The Jeep Thing" can only go so far. Sure, "There is Only One", it perfectly described my feeling, plus "ONCE is enough"!!

luv it!! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By steve & cindy - March 21 - 10:00 amThis vehicle is as good on road as it is off. We put alot of mileage on since purchasing it driving back & forth to florida, it gave us no problem at all considering in 5 months weve put on 28,000 miles!! the only small complaint we have is that during washing (a power washer was used)the paint on the bumper peeled off in one spot. The dealers here in florida assured us it could be repaired. But besides that, we absolutely love it!!!

Buyers Remorse - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jeep No More? - March 20 - 5:00 pmJeep owner for 30 years. Last Jeep was a 02 Grand Cherokee. Bought the 05 Hemi but failed to review the specs. 05 is longer and wider but there is less interior room due to the bulky plastic used through-out. Dash takes too much space; at 61" no leg room in the back nor in the front when driving with an adult in the back. On the passenger side, the bulky glove box placement is awful and knees are pressed against it when my 5- yr old sits in back. Lacks head room, headrests angled too forward which forces you to recline the seat further back. No way 4 adults fit in this Grand Cherokee. The 02 had more comfort space. After 13,000 miles, the transmission has a shudder, front differential solenoid failed, waiting for parts.

Best of the beasts - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Squash - March 17 - 4:30 amI liked the 1996 so much that I now keep it in the garage as my reliable spare. It is great on and off road. For the do it DIY guy, this is the perfect vehicle. The downfalls of the vehicle are the transmission, the air conditioning, and the rear wiper. The remainder of the vehicle is superb.

Die Hard Jeep fan driven away from Jeep, by Jeep - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By bboston1724 - March 17 - 2:43 amGreat car let down by crappy components. When will Chrysler get it? The car was in the shop for almost a month. Dealer recommended having it bought back, but I just traded it in for a BMW. The transfercase failed, which was replaced and then had all sorts of driveline problems as a result. Rear shock failed, and brakes were warped by 7500 miles. The last 100 miles was just driving it back and forth to the dealer for problems. Im disappointed as a former die hard Jeep fan, that was my 7th and probably last Jeep. The dealer and Chrysler did little to keep me happy.

Quality keeps improving in JGC - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By JerryP - March 17 - 2:00 amThis is our fifth Jeep since the 84 Cherokee(which was totaled one night but my wife walked away from.) We bought this used off a lease return with about 21K miles. It now has over 48K and has been a rugged performer driving through some very harrowing winter conditions here in the Cascades; all of it without any major failures of any equipment. Better gas mileage than any of its predecessors(18.1mpg)with more power than expected. Great visibilty, good road feel: just an easy car to drive.

What an interior - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By LDZermeno - March 16 - 9:53 amAfter having three separate friends owning Jeep Grand Cherokees (and having to hear how fun, and convenient they were), I decided to trade in my 2004 1500 Ram with the Hemi. In exchange I purchased an 06 Jeep GC Limited with the 5.7 Hemi. With the employee discount and fair trade in value of my truck, I think I got a very good deal. I couldnt be any happier. The ride is excellent, the pick up is great. But it still has a high center of gravity, so I wouldnt recommend going fast on those turns, lol. After 1200 miles, I am finally starting to realize why my friends were happy with their Jeeps.

Horrible Electonics - Summit 5.7L 4x4 - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jeeh - March 14 - 3:38 amSafety hazard; Mirrors and columns obstruct vision - big time. Dangerous!!! GPS; Use your phone or buy another car. GPS tends to gives bogus directions. It sends me in/out of the freeway for no reason. Hum; car hums. Dealer says "Hemi hum", period - end of story. They demonstrated that other GC do the same. Radio; Volume must be adjusted and re-adjusted each time we change AM to AM and back. If you do so - to avoid commercials - buy another car. Dealership acknowledged the problem, demonstrated that other 2014 GC do the same and replaced the radio - to no avail. Reception is very weak as well. Too many useless buttons on steering wheel. Other electronic features are inadequate as well.
