Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Noting but trouble - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By MBJ - July 4 - 2:00 amIf you need a car to get you to work this is NOT your vehicle!! My Jeep has been in the garage 20 times in the last twenty two months for various problems. At 16,000 miles the engine blew, the alternator has gone, I have had four stereo speakers replaced, and the brakes need to be fixed every 5,000 miles. This is without a doubt the worst car I have ever owned. Admittedly it is comfortable inside but I only have the car three weeks out of every month. To compound matters when it does break down the dealer feels it it fair to give me a subcompact as a replacement. If you are considering this vehicel I implore you to do your research!!!

Always Wanted an Overland - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By blankster - July 3 - 1:50 pmThis is my 3rd Jeep; the prior ones were a 2001 Limited and a 2004 Limited. Each time I bought one there was general improvement in features, comfort and reliability. This 2007 Overland is a huge jump over the 2004. Ride and handling are much improved. The interior seems more spacious and quieter. The new features (backup camera & remote start) are now must haves on my list. The power of the 5.7 Hemi over the previous 4.7 is very noticeable. Fuel economy is in the same range as the 4.7 (still improving as I put more miles on it). Overall a much improved and refined vehicle - less truck like than the previous generation. Looking forward to going on a long trip with this one.

watch out Toyota-Honda - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By bar - July 2 - 9:03 pmThis Jeep is better then all before. I owned a 97 and hated it. I drive mainly highway and snowy conditions so Quad-1 is fine for me. Room galore for my 6-5" frame and big family. Cargo area is great, flip tray and hidden areas help, vents are great, standard speakers are fine for normal use. Jeep put exactly what they needed in this baby. If you are looking at Highlanders and Pilots, check this out. Looks and road feel plus the Quad system and suspension work like it should for most SUV owners who actually never leave the road!

8 speed trans - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By loc1183 - June 30 - 2:37 pmWell I never thought I would have to write a review. After working for Chrysler for 42 years and driven nothing but Chrysler producst Im about to change. I purchased a 2014 Jeep Overland and have had to return it to the shop several times for transmission problems. Trans is a 8 speed and it really sucks. Jerks forward to approx. 2800 -3000 rpm. when starting out. When merging into traffic no response when accelerator is pressed then jumps into passing gear. Thought I was back in the sixties again. Dealership tells me that it is the characteristic of that vehicle. Well when you buy a $50000.00 vehicle you kind of expect everything to be right. Ok I think Ill try a Ford.

Running Strong - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By goodadv - June 30 - 2:00 amI bought this new and have put 108,000 miles on it with no trouble at all. I average 21-22 mpg on the highway and 19-20 around town. You cant find many SUVs that will give this kind of performance. The only thing I have done is change the oil and put gas in the tank. I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I also tow a 2,000lb boat about 15 weekends per year, the in-line 6 has no problems. This is my second Grand Cherokee (also owned 1995) and no problems. My boss and stock broker have same both with in- line 6 and they love them, no problems.

I love my Jeep Grand Cherokee - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ginger60 - June 26 - 10:00 amThis 96 Jeep has never broken down or left me stranded, has only had general maintenance as demanded by age and is the best car I have ever owned. I will never sell it (I have had offers), it will simply wear out. Except for a couple of dings & scratches caused by other drivers, it is in excellent condition, inside and out. I love it!!I service regularly and always take it to a Jeep de

my last Jeep - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By L.T. - June 25 - 1:50 amDangerous blind spots; front windshield too low -- hard to see traffic lights; back window too small; interior too tight -- bump head ( I am not very tall); serious blind spots; seats hard and uncomfortable. This is not a reflection on the dealership. I would buy another car from them without hesitation.

1,2,3 Heave the Anchor - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By VectorW8t@hbvac.org - June 24 - 10:00 amCons: Its quite painfully clear that Jeep has under-engineered their drive train and braking system. The vehicle simple looks and is marketed as being tough but cant walk the walk. The truck is built "Good Enough" to make it through a lease period which seems to be the mantra of the American Auto companies. My next vehicle, which will be shortly, will be a Japanese vehicle. The brand Jeep conjures up images of a tough American icon built to last with second to none off road capabilities, which is a farce.
