Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • 200k and keeps on going! - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought this Jeep with 70k on it. It now has 200k and Ive never been happier with a vehicle. Its sturdy, reliable, and does its job. The fuel economy is average in todays world but I can still get 18 -22 mpg if I drive carefully. Its real colors show when its driven off road - its impressive. I have driven this car across the USA six times and its never let me down. Had the transmission replaced at 150k - but only because the mechanic that serviced it didnt add transmission fluid and ruined the original. The drivers seat is getting soft but other than that the paint job, interior, and everything else has held up well. I live in New Mexico - rough terrain. I wouldnt be without my Jeep!

  • By Jeeper its a Keeper - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I purchased a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee to replace my 13 Chrysler 300. Extremely comfortable in all my travels. I have used it to go off road, pull my boat, and personal need. This vehicle is comfortable on the inside. When I take clients with me they are impressed that its a Jeep. Constantly telling me they cant believe how luxurious it is on the inside. Driving at night is awesome the headlights turn on to brights on their own. Wipers have rain sensing on them. Looked at other 4x4 vehicles and just wasnt happy with the dash setup and options offered. Best options for the money I paid. Make sure to take out the MOPAR warranty instead of the dealer warranty. Mopar covers until 2098 bumper to bumper or 999,999 miles on all major componets with $100 deductible. Take out a transmission at 150k 100 bucks to fix it. Warranty is pricey but well worth it.

  • 1998 Jeep Gr Ch Limited Rocks - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This vehicle is easily the most comfortable I have ever had. For an SUV, it handles like a car, rides like one as well. The power options are plentiful and well placed. The power seats are comfy, and easy to adjust.

  • Wished I had not bought it - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I have had nothing but problems with my new $50K Jeep GC limited. Transmissions clanks when shifting. Hesitates when trying to speed up. The uconnect went out and had to be replaced. Touch screen went out. Rear hatch will not open when pressing the remote control. Rear hatch inside trim fell off. Door locks takes several attempts to open the door. GPS is very unreliable. Set the radio to a station and turn it back on and it goes to another station. But the worst problem is the blind spots around the vehicle, I have almost gotten into several accidents because of the poor visibility. Each time I have taken the vehicle into the dealer it is like pulling teeth to get them to honor the warranty

  • 2013 Grand Cherokee, love it - 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee

After test driving a number of competing vehicles we bought our 2013 Grand Cherokee. We now have 25,000 miles with zero problems. We bought this car so that might wife would have the safety of all wheel drive in the Colorado winter. We were never disappointed in the performance of the car in the snow despite the OEM tires which arent particularly snow friendly. I find the V6 performance to be quite good even in mountainous terrain and high altitude. Around town it is a pleasure to drive, and Ill opt to drive it over my Audi A4 if its in the driveway.

  • Vinyl seat failure - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Beware of 1960s quality vinyl used on the seats. I have leather with vinyl trim on the sides of the seat and back. At 45,000 miles the cheap vinyl started to crack and is slowly deteriorating. Not cool for this day where some vinyls look and wear better than leather.

  • High maintenance - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

The Jeep turned out to be very high maintenance. My first brake job was at 7500 miles, next at 11,750, next at 24,500 and on and on. The brake job at 51,500 cost over $500. The transmission was replaced at 11,750. At 61,600 I had to replace the transfer case output and input seals. Also another brake job at that time. Now at 66,000 miles the transfer case shifter shaft seal is leaking and to fix will cost $450. Also the rear differential bearings are making noise and must be replaced ($950) and if you let it go too long you will damage the rear axles ($$$). It is beginning to feel like the brakes need work again.

  • Could of bought any car - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Quite frankly, I am in a position that I could have bought any new SUV of my choice. When I saw an ad for the new Grand Cherokee, I was immediately intrigued as I owned the last model and it was a fun ride. Went to the dealer, drove it off the lot, and that was it. The main complaint I had with the old Jeep was it was the ride was a bit bouncy. Well, they have taken care of that and the ride, power, and technology really should elevate this car to compete with the next price category up in the mid-size SUV ($50k+). I did have one problem with a dial on the navigation system and had to have the entire stereo/nav system replaced.

  • Best car I have ever owned! - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I purchased my Jeep with 100,000 miles on it; within 3 months I have put 11,000 more miles on it, and this Jeep is going strong. No major problems with it at all ever, besides maintenance like all other vehicles. I do not know why everybody complains about this style of Jeep. If you treat it good, it will do the same for you! I have 20" chrome rims on mine, with no brake problems what so ever, and they are heavy rims. The only thing that has been replaced are the pads. Jeep couldnt of made this vehicle any better. I plan on driving mine until the wheels fall off!

Just traveling around town to and from work to 20 hour jaunts across the country the vehicle is comfortable and fun to drive. Very versatile in interior hauling and excellent towing capability.
