The Grand Cherokee is all new for 2005. Among the improvements are new four-wheel-drive systems, an independent front suspension, three excellent engine options and better ergonomics and build quality.

Pros:
  • Strong engine lineup, unmatched off-road ability, balanced handling, long list of advanced safety equipment, solid warranty.
Cons:
  • Hard plastic interior surfaces could use some padding, less cargo capacity than most midsize SUVs.

I traded in a Range Rover for my Grand Cherokee (5.7 Hemi engine). Rovers are good but very high maintenance, and too many mechanical problems. My Jeep is very reliable, and the upgrades make it a pleasure to drive. I feel safe and at the same time enjoy driving my vehicle. I have owned two Rovers, and this is my third Jeep. I will never go back to the overpriced Rover with all the maintenance headaches. Jeep off-road performance is excellent, and like most 4x4s, it depends on off-road driver knowledge to fully appreciate its ability. I am as proud driving my Jeep on the highways as I was with the "prestigious" Range Rover. I receive as many compliments on my Jeep as I did with my Rover.

  • Cheap Jeep but Top Dollar - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I purchased a 2005 Jeep and I find that is built well except the paint. I rate it -1 as is is very poor. My vehicles are kept in the garage and the paint still chips off and looks terrible. They are using a cheap clear coat I guess.

Vast improvement over the old square design. More room, better seating and head space. Far more economical. It seems seamless in handling.

I absolutely love my 2005 Grand Cherokee Rocky Mountain. I have tricked it out quite a bit and get so many compliments on its look. I really love driving it too! Great price also helps the enjoyment factor.

Its been exactly one year to the day that I have owned my Jeep and I am very pleased with it. Its my first Jeep so I dont have a comparison with respect to improvements, but I can say it offers solid performance, its easy to drive and provides great value. Mine is loaded with every option and with the Hemi gets decent mileage.

  • Something must be done!!! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have had my Grand Cherokee for 2 yrs. now and since day one it has had problems. It started with a hard start, or two and since 2000 miles has stalled. The dealership can not do anything because there are no trips to the computer and the vehicle starts back up. I have also had my sunroof drain tubes replaced, window parts replaced, sunroof parts replaced, a faulty step button replaced, and my 4WD light and air bag light came on for some time. I have almost been hit twice in the past two years because the vehicle completely shuts down while driving. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!!

  • Its Got a Hemi - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I recently traded in my beloved Honda Accord for a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. The ride is smooth and quiet but you can hear the RUMBLE when you need that HEMI power to kick in. The fuel economy stinks but I was ready for that when i was getting the 5.7 liter engine. Driving stability is phenomenal. I love the front chrome grill on my Jeep. Its got every imaginable feature such as rain sensors, auto dimming mirrors, heated front seats, 6 disc mp3 cd player, dvd player, memory seats, tire pressure monitor, back up sensor. And its size is not as monstrous as the Suburban so ... you can step on it a little without the fear of losing control. How can you not gun it if youve got a HEMI! :)

  • Finally purchased my 2005 Hemi JGC - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I reviewed all the owner comments on this site prior to purchase and it helped tremendously. I cant say enough good things. I was very happy with the deal I got. Sticker $43,387.00 and I took it off the lot for $35,710.00. If you are going to spend this kind of money on a Jeep please consider getting the available options. Mine is loaded with the exception of the back seat DVD Player. After using the Navigation system and the U-Connect system for the telephone system I would never purchase another car without it. The ride is the smoothest of any Jeep I have driven. If you want a Jeep get the JGC Limited with the options.
