Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Waste of Money - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I purchased my Grand Cherokee in July of 2013. I have the 2014 model. Since the beginning this car has been problems. Originally it was said that the system was new, that is why no one had any real knowledge on what to do when I had a problem. I have taken it in 8 times only for them to find one or two problems. The rest they said they can fix if it is not acting up at the time. I have had issues like the sunroof being stuck open, the dashboard going out, transmission not shifting correctly, radio went out, buttons on door wont lock them, just to name a few. I wish I had know then what I know no, I would have saved my money and my time. If you are in the market for a car this is not it.

The JGCL with the 5.7 hemi is a great ride! Far better than years past with far better build quality. Huge amounts of power, great AWD system and tons of extras make this a great value. But only after the 0% 60 APR financing and huge discounts the dealers are giving. Stickered at $42k, selling for about $33-34k. The sticker its very expensive but $7k off the mark makes these a great ride! BTW you can get 20MPG with the hemi if you lock it on the highway at 65mph and are not climbing. Otherwise its 10-17mpg, depending on the mix. I dont do a lot of highway and have seen it as low as 11.5 mpg for a whole tank.

  • Over estimated our Overlands build quality - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Bought our 2014 V8 equipped Overland in April. We really liked the premium features when compared to our previous 2004 Durango. The air ride shocks make the truck ride better than ANY truck I have experienced. As well, weve gotten as high as 26 MPG at 62 - 65 mph, exceptional if you ask me. However, weve had this truck in the shop 6 times already for: electronics, bad radio display, oil pan replacement, recalls, etc. Past experience with other brands of vehicles tell me that I should plan on selling this truck right before the warranty expires.

  • Worst vehicle Ive ever owned - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

You name the problem, Ive had to pay for it to be fixed. Power locks, well- described brake issue, (still) leaking driver side rear window, entire rear axle (twice!), air conditioner control button, fuel injection. Take my advice: Buy Japanese. I know I will for ever more. (Even worse than the build quality, was the inept way and high cost of repairs!) Just awful.

  • Love my new Laredo - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I have put almost 5000 miles on this new jeep and I love it!!! I had a 2000 Cherokee Sport that I thought rode like a wagon, but this GRAND LAREDO is a very nice, smooth ride. My mom has a Trailblazer and I like my Jeep FAR, FAR better!

  • Dont buy Chrysler products - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

The car started off fine but is now troubled with electrical problems. The car constantly gives a transmission over temp alarm even after start up. The ESM is messing up causing erratic shifting. Ever since the n23 recall I have a service 4wd system alarm that will show every start up and not let me engage 4 low. To replace the ESM its going to cost over $700 and is such a common problem it should be recalled. This is my last Chrysler product I will ever buy.

  • Descended From Greatness - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is the real deal. It is not a cute-ute. It is not a car on stilts. This is a Jeep descended from the original. What does that mean. It means that the Jeep will not be the most spacious, it will not be the most efficient, it will not be the most refined. But, when properly equipped, it will take four people and their gear through almost all conditions in great comfort. Looking for a family hauler - - look elsewhere. This is not a modern SUV. It is old-school. If you want to really use your roof rack, use your 4wd, and use your hitch, then this is your vehicle. If you want to putter around the mall with the kids, this is not your vehicle.

  • An experience - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Bought it with 39k miles. Replaced entire tranny at 65k(cost 2600). Replaced pads and rotors once, due again. Replaced front axle at 48k. Replaced entire front end at 85k. Replaced front and real axl seals at 90k, along with valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket. Replaced throttle body sensor 5k miles ago which restricted me from a NYS inspectio. Bad on gas. Good in snow unless you are on an unmarked road, then nothing special. Very comy inside. Awesome Jeep turning radius. Good looks inside and outside. Motor runs strong though would have preferred a V8 had I known better. Evac recall for all 2002s will hurt you if you want an inspection, need to have that fixed. Poor sell-back value.

  • If I had it to do over again - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Although I love the navigation, heated seats and the dvd player I would trade all of that for the upgraded 4 wheel drive system. I have the Quadra-Drive 1 which in my opinion is not a very good choice. I actually got stuck in a small snow drift. If youre going to get a Jeep get the Quadra-Trac not the Quadra-Drive!

  • My Love For My Overland - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Buying my Jeep Overland is no doubt one of the smartest car decisions I have made. Its great for trips, however long or short they may be. So far, there hasnt been any problems with it, except for a minor leak in one of the tires. The only times it has been in the shop ate for the service checks or inspections, which it has always passed. Im proud of my Jeep, and its excellent performance.
